“Excellent food coupled with a relaxing cabin in the mountains= a ten!”

This was a great mini getaway for us to be sure. Out in the middle of the countryside where all you can typically find is a fast food restaurant or a deep fried whatever, is this restaurant that is a remodeled barn with a beautiful country backdrop complete with cows roaming in the background. The food is excellent with an exotic flare and so reasonable in price to boot. Fresh fish flown in from Hawaii as well which I can't even find in the city I live. My wife and I did this for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. They have two cabins for rent on the restaurant property which are extremely reasonably priced and included with that price is appetizers when you arrive as well as a most excellent breakfast of whatever you choose. The milk they served was even farm fresh! All of their pork/beef is slaughtered on the premises so you can't do any better than that. Throw in a nice wine/beer selection and you have it made. We hung out that night after eating in our cabin and watched the firefly's dance and the lightning in the distant background with the mountain backdrop. In the morning we enjoyed all the birds while having an outdoor breakfast on the back deck. We loved speaking with the owner who really made our stay fantastic. This is our new getaway location for sure.

“Wonderful place, fabulous experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

We stayed at Cuz's towards the end of a long road trip in the mountains and before we got there, we were a little worried about what a "cabin behind a BBQ place" would be like. As soon as we arrived, we realized we had nothing to worry about!

The cabins are beautiful and in a setting that takes your breath away. Checking in was simple: we walked into the restaurant and when we told the owner, Yvonne, we were checking in, she welcomed me by name and gave us the key to the cabin and pointed us the way.

We stayed in the smaller cabin, which has a comfortable king sized bed in the loft area. We were traveling alone, but if we'd brought the kids there would have been plenty of room for them to sleep on the built-in daybeds in the living room.

Two warnings: the bed is in the loft and the bathroom is downstairs, so if you're prone to nighttime visits to the toilet, make sure to take a flashlight for safety. Also... there is no shower per se; the bathtub (jacuzzi!) has a hand-held shower nozzle, but no walls or curtain. Nothing wrong with that--just nice to know ahead of time.

The porch was lovely and the rocking chairs were perfect for watching the sun set and listening to the birds and the babbling brook next to the cabin.

As we watched the cars stream into the restaurant's parking lot, down by the road, we were amazed at how many people would be there on a Wednesday night. When we had our dinner, we were no longer surprised. The menu is extensive--not just barbecue. I had a delicious steak and my husband had a seafood stirfry... both were delicious.

Then Yvonne took our order for breakfast and asked us what time we would like it delivered! The next morning our delicious and warm breakfast was delivered to us. We enjoyed it on the lovely porch.

All in all, a great experience. I hope to return and highly recommend it for couples, families or even a friends' getaway.

Nearby is the Crab Orchard Museum and Pioneer Farm Park, which is most definitely worth a visit.

“amazing food, unique experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

I went here this summer with my wife for a wonderful weekend retreat at the cabins and some dining at the restaurant. I could not recommend this place more highly! Briefly, here were the highlights:

-The service, by the owner, was prompt, courteous and swift.
-The food was amazing! Cuz's has some of the best food you can find from here to Atlanta. From the seafood to the velveeta eggrolls (!) the food was original, delicious, and a great value!
-The cabin was clean and well-appointed, from the hot tub to the cowskin rug.

“Beautiful,...inside and out!”

My children and I stayed in the "smaller" cabin. Tons of room and just so pretty! Front porch home-cooked breakfast delivered each morning with a smile. (INCLUDED!!!) Beautiful rock pool surrounded by mountains. Peaceful with well-tended flower gardens galore, dish T.V. delighted the kids. Comfortable, snuggle into them beds. They will arrange hikes for you, deliver dinner, anything. Felt like staying at Mom's, only better! Sorry one person had a bad experience but that has to be out of the norm. We were absolutely pampered. Chicken tenders and fries delivered to the pool the night of our arrival b/c she just "knew the little ones would need a snack". Where else would you find that?? We will absolutely return.

“Rustic and Loving It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2008

We and another couple stayed at Cuz's Cabins in April 2008 and we not only had a fabulous stay at the two-bedroom cabin, but a fabulous meal at the restaurant as well, plus a scrumptious, warm breakfast DELIVERED to us the following morning.
Upon arrival, we checked in at the restaurant where we were offered free appetizers (offered to cabin guests as part of the package) to take with us to the cabin. We passed, deciding to take them with our dinner.
We then went to the cabin to check it out and get settled in. The cabins are located in the field behind the restaurant, rustic to be sure. We weren't sure what to expect but what we found was the cabin itself was as eclectic as the restaurant. Plenty of room to relax with comfortable seating, a large front porch with a view(beautiful farmland, horses, mountains) and rocking chairs, wood cut and stacked for our use, and clean white robes hanging by the tub. The only negative was that the refrigerator was very small but we were okay because we were prepared for that and brought a cooler with us.
Later we walked to the restaurant, and all I need to say is we ate and ate, and the food was fantastic! For future reference, we will accept the appetizers upon arrival and not wait till dinner to get them because the portions at Cuz's are so large, you end up not being able to eat all your food! And that, my friends, is a shame! Our waitress came by at the end of our meal and gave us the list of breakfast foods we could choose from as well as the choice of having our breakfast at the restaurant or at the cabin.
We walked back to the cabin with a satisfied palate and a full stomach, built a fire, and enjoyed the rest of our evening.
The next morning, right on time, our breakfast was brought to us hot. Fresh squeezed orange juice, pancakes, fruit and more. We ate at the table on the front porch, even though it was a little chilly, the ambiance was worth it.
The whole experience was excellent. We are booked for another visit in October with more friends and can't wait.
