First time visit to Cactus Jacks, middle of the day and in Brisbane, the first thing we noticed was no air con !! Most diners were fanning themselves with the menus. Ordered a mixed platter as I'm not familiar with mexican dishes and was very disappointed. There were 3 buffalo wings (the chilli sauce was too hot for my liking so don't order for kids) 2 ribs, these were tough and dry and very difficuly to eat and 2 deep fried rolled up taquitos with a chicken filling - these were nice. At $22 not good value for money imo.

These people are hopeless! Management needs to scrutinise staff when hiring. Have been there several times the last being my Mothers birthday (spent over $600) and I don't think one meal was devoured. Also night club prices for drinks, very very expensive!

Do not waste your time coming to this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. I was really looking forward to Cactus Jacks in Airlie Beach for months, when I got there I was bitterly disappointed. Firstly the service was very poor, lots of standing around and not much attention to patrons. Spattered my fajitas all over my new top, burning me in the process and ruining my top. Then staff were walking behind me with hot meals (service shortcut), in order to avoid walking the long way around to the other end of the dining room. The authenticity of the "signature dish" the Fajita was questionable, even I can make a better Fajita at home..... No one offered us second drinks not did they ask if we wanted dessert. In the meantime, staff are standing in front of us doing "NOTHING". I was offered 15% off my bill, but the manager should go back to High School - she was useless. All in all - DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME OR YOUR MONEY!
Still doesn't help that my clothes were ruined and she didn't even seem to care, next time, wipe that stupid smile off your face.....

Cactus jacks is a great place for streaks and fish and drinks and partys and it is open 7 days a week
