“Perfect Day”

Our party of 6 went out for a day long picnic charter to Culebrita with Capt. Bill on his 30 foot sailing catamaran, unusually rigged for offshore fishing. He motored the vessel with the main sail up. The little quiet hidden environmentally responsible outboard propelled the light racing hulls surpizingly well. We wondered if we would regret spending the $650, but are glad we did. Bill was very professional, showed up on time, was very attentive to our every need and has a very easy going personality. He provided some healthy snacks of fresh fruit and veggies, crackers and cheese, a large assortnment of cold beverages and a masterfully prepared feast of fish he caught the previous day with rice, vegetables and fruit. We caught a small Cero mackeral shortly after leaving the bay. Bill's extensive surfing knowledge of wave sets aided in timing the entry to Tortuga bay as there was a large offshore swell breaking at the entrance that day. He supplied a waterproof box for our cameras and a surfboard to assist us and his first mate dachshund mix to swim ashore. We enjoyed the beautiful beach, warm natural jacuzzi baths and a hike to the top of the 19th century Spanish lighthouse for spectacular 360 views. Please note the unrestored lighthouse is not safe, but it's hard to resist walking across the old plank and up the rusted stairs to the sans railing ledge at the top. After our return to the boat, Bill's friend, Tina the sea turtle and a large ramora entertained our 14 year old swimmers and made for some great photo ops. Bill very carefully navigated between the breaking swells out of the protected harbor and found a glassy lee shore for some snorkling over the side while he cooked our meal. As he has many return customers, he doesn't need to bother with a web site and you'll need to book early by calling [--].

“Great Day On The Water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

We recently spent a week in Culebra. We enjoy many aspects of the island, but had an especially nice day on Captain Bill's catamaran. He is really friendly and makes you feel at home on his boat. He provides snacks throughout the day. Captain Bill plans your day around what interests you. He knew that we love to snorkel and he took us to several good snorkeling spots. We could have done a little fishing too, but the day we were out the water was too rough. We were able to snorkel because he took us to calm areas. There was never pressure to hurry and it was a very relaxing day. Towards the end of our trip he cooked us a delicious meal of tuna, rice and veggies. The tuna was caught by him the day before. It was the best tuna we had ever tasted! We have been on numerous snorkeling/sailing day trips over the years and this is by far the best one we have ever done. We met Bill at 10:00 and spent the entire day on the water. It is well worth the money.

Wow, what a GREAT Time!!! Capt. Bill showed us a perfect day! Fishing, secluded beaches, great snorkeling (Capt. Bill has the Turtles trained to hang out with us ) & incredible sight seeing! Then the best part … most of the 6 of us live to eat …. And we had some very good meals in Culebra (Susie’s)…. Bill made us freshly caught Yellow Fin Tuna over rice w/veggies …. Was truly one of the best meals we every had!!!!!!!

“Capt. Bill does it again!”

We have been going to Culebra for about 5 years, and going out on the Pez Vela with Bill and Gigi for the last last couple years. We have always had a wonderful time, with Bill going out of his way to make sure everyone in the family, including the kids, enjoys their day.

Bill had wonderful food once again, fresh fruit all day, a nice snack of tuna tataki, cheese & crackers, celery & peanut butter for the kids. Lunch at Culebrita was freshly caught tuna steaks with rice and veggies for the adults---nothing beats it! For the kids he made grilled cheese and a special chicken with butter noodles for our son. Bill had noticed that was our son's favorite meal at the Shipwreck Grill and went out of his way to make it for him on the boat.

The highlight of the day, though was the fishing. Before we were even out of Ensenada Honda, our son had caught a large yellowtail snapper, along with a very baby yellowtail that went back in the water. Once out on open water was when the action really happened. My son (with help) caught a 25# yellowfin tuna, followed shortly thereafter by a 24# blackfin tuna. He was so excited! Bill cleaned them and we had them that day on the boat. He also gave us the rest of the tuna and cleaned the snapper for our meals the next day. It was wonderful!

Don't forget about swimming with the turtles at Culebrita! Gigi kindly lets you know when they are around and it is an amazing experience. A must do if you are on island!

“Highlight of our trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

We heard about the beautiful beaches of Culebra, but then stumbled upon Capt Bill's Catamaran. His trip was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The catamaran was comfortable, with plenty of room for sun or shade. Capt Bill shared with us information about the island and took us to the most beautiful places. We swam, snorkeled, walked around on the beaches of neighboring islands... all while he took pictures of us and fed us a fantastic lunch. Would highly recommend this trip. All you need is sunscreen!
