Our group of 6 couples rented the Plantation Villa and a few of the cottages and attached the apartment from January 30-Feb 5 2012 on Jost Van Dyke in the BVI's. The photos of the house online don't really do it justice - it is really lovely. The mural was pretty "interesting" in the main room - but we were never ever inside and spent all our time on the porch. There was a nice large porch, a few tables for congregating, eating and game playing outside, and bedrooms in a separate wing for privacy. The views of White Bay are heaven, and the short walk to the beach (and to the Soggy Dollar and their pain killers) is not a big deal at all. My only recommendation (which I have made about the Virgin Islands before) is that the bugs are really vicious. Most of the people in our group had a single complaint - the bugs ate us all alive - even though we brought 100% deet repellent. The bedrooms in the villa are all open air and come with bug nets, but I was happy we were in the lower apartment that had screens on all the windows.

This island is the perfect place for a group trip with couples/friends - great beach bars, really nice welcoming people, lots of snorkeling and diving spots, great place to just kick back and laugh a ton and reconnect with friends or family that are all getting busier as they grow their families and careers. Never a problem getting a large table to seat everyone at a restaurant or bar... totally laid back and not the least bit uppity!

It made the people used to more "roughing it" beach vacations (like central america) happy, but the cake-eaters (all-inclusive types) were happy with the house and nearby amenities as well. A perfect happy medium for a diverse group that has different spending limits for a vacation.

White Bay Villas is a wonderful place on the wonderful island of JVD. From the beginning, Bonnie,the booking agent,was very helpful. We felt fortunate that we knew the island a little, and the routing of the ferries (at least generally).
Just as promised, the right amount (as determined by us) of hand-holding in making advance ferry connections and arranging provisioning was always available.
This is a place unlike any other we have been to, and we have been to the USVI, BVI, and other islands many times over recent years.
To be clear, this island is not for everyone. This is a wonderfully rustic, peaceful, and beautiful environment. And the people are great. But do not expect to be catered to. Do not plan a tight schedule or be in a rush. Do not expect an island that is easy to get to. If you do, you will be disappointed and unhappy. Unfortunately, the woman in the cottage next door to us did not understand these things.

Our second visit to WBV, and it felt like coming home. We enjoyed ourselves so thoroughly, we added three nights to our originally planned three night stay. Blissfully relaxing.

This was our first time on Jost Van Dyke and we absolutely fell in love with it! We got married at White Bay Villas on the Island and it was perfect! We stayed at the Dreamaway in White Bay Villas and had an incredible view of the bay and spectacular sunsets...even while laying in bed at night we had wonderful views of the lights of St. Thomas. It is a very romantic setting! The entire staff at White Bay Villas was superior including Bonnie, Thad and Karen. They took care of every detail of our stay as well as our wedding. We will definitely return!
