We stayed here in September and loved this old inn. We were in one of the rooms on the top floor and the ceilings added so much character and the views were great. Everything was clean and inviting. I had no problem paying when we arrived (that actually suits me because then I don't have to worry about forgetting before we leave). Minutes after arriving, a young man came in the door and the host greeted him and asked about the timing of boat tours to see the icebergs (yes, there were tons of icebergs there in September/October!). Minutes later we were heading out the door to do this amazing tour. The boat's captain and his sister, who explained what we were seeing and lots of other interesting information, couldn't have been nicer.
Our room was comfortable, it was great having Wifi available and the breakfast the next morning was great (and cooked by the captain from the day before--you've gotta love off-season travelling). I'd highly recommend this place and will return when we come back to Newfoundland one day. Oh, and if you like hiking, the trails around the bays are amazing!
