“MOST EXQUISIT START TO HOLIDAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Have stayed with Frank and Pam on a number of occasions each time has been outstanding. The rooms are very chic, extremely clean and very quiet. Breakfast is always excellent quality. Most stop over hotels serving Manchester airport are very noisy with guests arriving and leaving throughout the night. The Rylands is very peaceful, so relaxing and the most fabulous start to anyones holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

“Stayed several times and still going back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2011 via mobile

I have stayed here several times for work and pleasure. The staff are lovely and extremely accommodating.
The breakfasts are top notch.
I have stayed in several of the rooms from the cottages to the main building, and they do vary in size but are all finished to a top standard.
I have arranged another visit and although I had to postpone the date I didn't lose my deposit.
I definitely highly recommend.

“Complete rip off”

Has got to be the rudest Guest House owner since Basil Faulty, Would win awards for sarcastic wit.
Rooms noisy as you hear the traffic all through the night. Owner lied about transfers to airport ... there are not any despite their website saying there are at this exact moment;
• We provide courtesy airport transport. ( Does this also mean he has lied on this website too where he denied it was offered ?)
Breakfast was supposed to be included but wasn't.
Avoid this place like the plague.

I'm afraid it's you telling the lies Sir/Madam. Breakfast is included in the price, the person you met is not the owner, if you had read the terms and conditions along with hotel policy, you would realise in some cases costs may apply for airport transfers.

Your remarks are insulting and untrue, I'm rather pleased you won't be returning.

“Tiny room, no internet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

people found this review helpful

When we arrived, we were surprised by how tiny the double room is - as others have noted, there isn't enough room to swing a cat. The 'virtual tour' shows the family room, which is much more spacious.

Also, even though the booking site states TWICE that there is internet, there was no internet! We were told by the manager (who was temporarily looking after the place, as the owners were away for a few weeks) that he too was frustrated by the lack of wifi. Apparently they are in the process of getting broadband installed. I'm slightly ticked off at being told there was internet, paying for the room, and then finding there is no internet whatsoever and there has never been. The main reason I booked this B&B was because they said there was internet access.

Also, when we arrived in the room in the afternoon, it was incredibly hot because someone had turned the storage heater up to the maximum setting (on a 20C day). Even leaving the windows open all night the room was still very hot and difficult to sleep in. I'm not sure if it was the manager or just a previous guest who didn't know how to operate a storage heater (I'm from the UK and I hate the things too).

On a positive note, the manager was very friendly, and the breakfast room was very nice. We had to leave early, and the manager kindly let us into the breakfast room early so we could get cereal and toast before we left for our flight.

Some of the rooms are compact and small, but we are only a small guest house. Wi-Fi has been in place since July 2010, however, cheap low power laptops etc will not connect as well as the more expensive type, or perhaps you were given the wrong password. So tick yourself off again we do have internet access.

The storage heaters have on/off switches on them, its the guests choice regardless of weather.

So sorry you are returning.

“Lovely place to stay, excellent hospitality.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

We stayed at the guesthouse for a night out around Wilmslow/Alderley Edge. The rooms are lovely - ours was split over 2 levels and really did have that cottage feel, and the fact that you have your own front door as not to disturb others is a bonus. Our room was the closest to the main road and yes we could hear the traffic but this did not bother us as we were staying after a night out so slept through it no probs! Nicely kept gardens and lovely views at breakfast from the conservatory. The only fault I would point out in the room was the absence of a large mirror. The service was faultless and the breakfast very nice too.
