“Old but in style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

This is an old building, so be aware of low ceilings and steps from one room to the other, but the atmosphere is excellent, like the staff that welcomes you. The car is being taken care of. The spacious rooms are old fashioned, but there is all you need. Shower in the bad, large beds, a bunch of towels and a bottle of water on the cupboard. Enjoy in summer the terrace, where you can have an traditional (delicious) breakfast or dinner, overlooking the Amstel with great views. But don’t go only to sleep there. We go there to eat and then sleep. Fabulous restaurant with a traditional kitchen serving modern plates for connoisseurs. Super wines and a helpful and very kind staff. Heavenly.

Room Tip: ask for a room garden level

“Holland on its best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2010

Very close to Schiphol airport, just outside Amsterdam, in the middle of Dutch "polder landscape" lies this small boutique hotel in an old Dutch house at the banks of the river Amstel. When we arrived a valet (no charge, as it turned out) took our car and parked it further away as parking lot next to Hotel was full (restaurant guests). In the morning the parking lot was empty and our car was back there. We were given room 8 on the first floor which was a very small room, romantic for sure, but too small for comfort. Room 9 next is bigger and therefore more comfortable. The surplus for an executive room on the ground-floor could be well spent. There are also 2 suites which we did not see. The restaurant has a fantastic view (daytime) over the river. The staff in the restaurant was top notch: very professional and utmost friendly service. Food was top notch too.....
Note: GPS Hotel POI location as known by several systems seems to be abt. 400m. too far south. Use their address as destination.

“Wonderful place by the water, just near Amsterdam, but so romantic & quiet”

This is a very nice place to stay, just about 10 min. from Amsterdam, on the riverside the Amstel. Wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a typical Dutch view over the Amstel (with sluice-gate) from the terrace. Good and helpfull staff and a nice room just near the waterside. The lunch (at the terrace) and the breakfast were both excellent. Highly recommended when you visit Amsterdam, but don't want to sleep in the noisy city.

“Two out of three”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2009

Hotel Het Jagershuis is well situated with its waterside terrace, a lovely place to breakfast or lunch. (It seems to be a favourite of the business lunch) The evening Menu is in the haute realm and the bill isn’t far behind. The staff was generally friendly, there were a couple of gaps but nothing worth making a deal of. The food and drink side of this establishment deserves top marks. The rooms need some attention though. The beds are comfortable enough but the linen is in urgent need of updating, towels included. The lamps were so cheap that if you sneezed they were liable to topple over and the curtains when fully drawn left pillars of light in. The air-con is on the noisy side. There are some nice old pieces in the rooms and the bathroom has character.
If a little money were spent on the accommodation side of this business Het Jagerhuis would not only be a fine place to dine but could be a special place to stay as well.

Get with it guys, it's the little things, the quality.
I'm giving 4 out of 5, I'm being slightly over generous.

“Beautiful boutique hotel with lovely restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2007

I just love this hotel - I found it by accident whilst looking for a hotel near a business client and I keep going back there. Whilst I go for business I would definitely go for leisure also.

Location: this isn't central amsterdam, but the outskirts. However, it's not far at all from the airport so do consider it as a refreshing alternative to the rather miserable airport hotels near Schipol. Also ideal for those seeking a peaceful/romantic weekend in an idyllic setting, right on the banks of the canal.

Rooms: all individually decorated, this is a boutique hotel so no room is the same. really beautiful, bespoke decor that is so refreshing from the typical chain hotels. best rooms are the ones leading out to the bar/restaurant

Restaurant: the hotel is also a restaurant. the service and quality of food is very high and it is a beautiful place to relax in the evening. the bar outside is a great place to chill pre-dinner. Breakfast is included and is wholesome continental fare - we even had croissants freshly baked for us!

Perks: You can hire the hotel boat for free and take it out on a trip down the canal, and order wine and food to take with you!
