My Wife and I spent Xmas at this Hotel as a part of a Leger Holiday, the Hotels made up of several buildings and I guess we were lucky to be in the main Hotel as many complained about the walk in freezing conditions to the Dining Room and bar. our Room was No32 on the top floor which wasnt a problem as there is a very good lift it was clean but very cold the rad was placed behind a curtain so the heat never seemed to get into the room,the rooms are also very basic to say the least. and do not have any tea or coffee making fac so I was pleased that I had took my own. the Bar across the way left a bit to be desired more like a barn than a bar,the toilet and shower room is very small not big enough for two people at the same time. I am not nit pikin this Hotel just telling the trueth.the food is basic and is a bit repetative salad starter at every evening meal but breakfast is self service dont expect any form of eggs or bacon ect. just continental. the staff however are really nice and helpful and will do anything to make your stay as nice as poss.all in all we had a very enjoable Xmas but most of that was due to Andy and Barny our Leger drivers who were ab/fab

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights over Christmas with Leger Holidays, we had a excellent time, we were made feel very welcome, food was great even brought out seconds. We even had a present from under the tree from the hotel. The scenery around the hotel is fantasic even when covered in snow which it was for all of the time. We visited the church on Christmas Eve for midnight mass which was really good. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for nice walks, friendly staff and peace and quiet.

My room was on the ground floor in an out building away from the hotel, next to a fast flowing small river, which runs through the village. The initial impression was that the room was damp; and there was never any heating on, in spite of the fact that we had several days of wet weather. I saw one or two of the other rooms in the same block, and they seemed much nicer, with balconies and views of the surrounding hills. I may have just been unlucky, I suppose.

The restaurant/breakfast room was invested with flies, which was a constant concern; particularly at breakfast, which was a buffet. The service at dinner was sometimes very slow, and the meals were of a poor standard, with little choice.

My shower gel was never replaced after the first two days. There was no free wi-fi at the hotel. In fact, they wanted 5 euros for 15 mins, which was a complete rip-off.

However, Giswil is a delightful location.

we stayed at the Krone for three nights and had a lovely time.Our room was in one of the outside chalets.It was a large room with french doors opening out onto a balcony with a fabulous view.The room and hotel were clean and comfortable and the staff couldn't do enough to help.us.We visited with a coach party and had a set menu with two choices which were more than adequate and tasty.We were lucky enough to have glorious weather 27 degrees C and enjoyed lengthy enjoyable evenings on the balcony bar amongst good company. Again the staff were friendly and accomodating even when we stayed a little late..We stayed at The Krone with two other coach parties but experienced no hold ups or problems at mealtimes.A nice touch was being waved off by the family owners as we departed. Would certainly recommend and visit again. Thank you
