We booked a week's half baord here.We had a flat at the back overlooking the pool and had no street noise at all. It seemed to have all the basic items for cooking etc.We weren't planning on spending much time there and it suited us fine for a week. It was unfortunate that the lift was broken (with no sign that it was going to be fixed) so if you had children/buggy etc (which we didn't) it would have been a haul up two flights of steps.

As far as the restaurant at the Flor los Almendros is concerned (which is the parent hotel) it was OK for breakfast - eggs/bacon /cheese/ham and then juice/coffee out of a machine.The eveing meals were very basic with only two choices. Not a place for picky chidlren or vegetarians ! The food was acceptable and given tha we had got a good price for the room we didn't feel too hard done by, We tended to eat at lunch and not expect there to be too much in the evening.

Be warned about the buses. They can be very popular and when full will not stop. There is a timetable but this is very indicative ! It's better to turn left out of the hotel towards the roundbaout and supermarket and pick the bus up there as you have a better chance of getting on ! Likewise in Palma you can walk to the bus station rather than waiting by the cathedral. However very cheap and good service when you're on board.

We stayed with our teenage children at Ran de Mar for 12 days in August this year.
Peguera is a very nice resort, suited us fine. The pedestrianised (during the evenings) single main street had a great 'buzz' with couples and families strolling through, no overpowering noisy bars, just 'background' music from the many restaurants etc. The beach is not too large, not too busy and kept very clean. Many nice places for lunch overlooking the beach.
Most vistors appear to be German or Spanish (relatively few English) - but we liked this compared to other resorts we visited which were overflowing with 'English Bars' and advertisments for 'steak pie and mushy peas with Bisto Gravy'
Accomodation however though nicely close to the beach and clean - was pretty basic, and room overlooking the street was very noisy at 2am to 3am when the few clubs were emptying, and at 5am to 6am when the street cleaning started ! Furniture was old and worn and beds not too comfortable - but we didn't spend much time in the room.
Ran de Mar has a small but very nice pool which was never overcrowded (often just us), but beware the main pool is deep and there are no depth markings (althouhj the small, shallow children's pool is well separated.
We were half board meals bieng served at the ajoining hotel - food was basic - but OK given price we paid. We ate out several times for variety anyway. They do seem to not have enough teacups and glasses !
Overall we enjoyed our holiday and realistically it was good value for money - Peguera is a fine resort for family, but don't stay at the Ran de Mar unless you are happy to 'rough it a little' and focus on enjoying the charms of the resort.

We stayed in the Ran De Mar over Easter 2008. The weather was bad in Majorca we were unlucky... The accomodation was basic but comfortable you get what you pay for.. we are not complaining we only paid 134.00 euro for two adults and two children for one week at Easter so we werent expecting much. The family that look after the appartments were very nice to us as we had two boys and their children played with our two boys which was great. Peguera is nice and is a good base for touring.. There are some nice pubs down the street with music every night and we had a lovely break even though it was raining alot of the time but we are from Ireland so we are well used to precipitation!!! When the sun came out we went to the beach which was lovely and clean and a nice promenade. All in all you couldnt beat the Ran de Mar for value for money... how long do you spend in your appartment anyway???
cheap and cheerful and a great way to spend a week in March.

Ran de Mar is a budget apartment complex right in the centre of Paguera. It has a good location, but the services were very poor. The apartment was very dated and equipped with old furniture / fittings. It is desperately in need of re-decoration and is somewhat grubby. We had a back apartmenet overlooking the pool which was really quite unnattractive. A street view would have been much more interesting for people watching. There is no reception, you have to call at the hotel next door to pick up your keys from a rather grumpy man on the desk. The apartment was cleaned only once in the time we were there (five days) and the towels were changed at the same time. Paguera is a very nice resort and there are much better places to stay than this. If you are on a tight budget you might not mind this place as it is very cheap to stay there, but don't expect anything when you are there other than a rather uncomfortable old bed to sleep in!
