My husband and I (both 40) stayed at the Rocamar for 4 nights as a quick relaxing break away as our children were away. It is perfect in every way to relax and unwind as a couple, not ideal for children. The hotel is family run and is clean, comfortable and good value for money. The area is safe, spotless and beautiful. The nearest beach is a good walk away and possibly man made and busy but gorgoeus and set in a secluded cove. There are only a few shops within walking distance of the hotel but they offer everything you need (Spar). There are many restaurants to choose from and the food, albeit not cheap, is plentiful and good quality. The harbour is expensive to eat and we absolutely recommend El Cruce which is a short walk in the town. Run by a German guy who speaks perfect English.
Would definitely recommend this hotel/resort for people who want to get away and unwind.
Negatives are for that some British would find that the resort is predominantly German/Spanish but we found this absolutely no problem as we got by and everyone was friendly. The owner of Rocamar Hotel, Magra, did not speak English but was very friendly and welcoming and apologetic for her lack of the English language.
