myself and my daughter went on are very 1st holiday and stayed at sol y mar as previously stated in outher comments the pool is dangerous the staff are very unfreindly it didnt make for a good start at all very dissapointed travel agents should stop advertising this hotel its a sham

We stayed at the Sol Y Mar apartments toward the end of September, so there weren't too many people staying there at that time. Our apartment was adequate and reasonably clean - there were 2 twin rooms, living room with kitchen included, bathroom and private balcony. The receptionists were polite and helpful, as was the travel company representative, however the bar staff seemed under pressure and made little attempt to communicate.
Cala Bona itself is a great place to go to for a relaxed holiday .... the promenade which merges into the adjacent resort of Cala Millor has a good array of restaurants, cafes and gift shops.
We often ate in the evening at the El Pescador restaurant and can recommend the food here ... this restaurant is one of many situated alongside the picturesque harbour containing many yachts and fishing boats.
As our break was outside the school holidays, there were very few children around, so we can't comment about what it's like during peak season. Overall a very relaxed and enjoyable break.

Cala Bona was great. Connected to Cala Millor and it was a lovely walk betwen the two areas. Sol y Mar apts were very basic. Rather old fashioned. Bathrooms were particularly old and in great need of upgrading. The pool and pool area were horrible. Very small and painted a garish green. Centre of pool was a tree which more or less took up most of the swimming area. Kiddies area of the pool had barely four inches of water and we never saw any toddlers use it. Location of apartments was good. Beach at Cala Bona caused me many cuts to ankles and feet as it is very slippy and rocky. However a few minutes walk into Callor Millor and there was a long expanse of sandy and gently sloping beach. The water there was fantastic and very clean. Plently of shops bars and eateries. As previously stated by other guests recently, the staff at Sol y Mar pub were not too pleasant and rather than attempt to commumnicate we ate and socialised elsewhere. Can recommend Smithys bar in Cala Bona harbour. Good food and great service. Spar just below entrance to Sol y Mar had dodgy opening hours but luckily after a few minutes walk we discovered a much better one. Overallrating for Sol y Mar would be 5 out of 10. Overallrating for Cala Bona and Cala Millor would be 8 out of 10. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 5 teenagers ranging from 15 to 17.

Cala Bona what a lovely place shame about the accomodation the Sol Y Mar apartments the pool was terrible very small not looked after and dangerous never saw anyone clean it two weeks all the paint was flaking and the surrounding area was so small that relaxing around it was not an option. The british bar that is attached has no english staff and no entertainment as such and the staff were not happy no smiles to greet you if you went. The nearby beach is very pebbley but the water lovely once you get in it . Eating out is great lots of great bars eg The London Bar, Smugglers and Yates all look after families all in all the location and area is great we just had terrible look with accomadation
