“Nice place with minimum service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

It is a fantastic place for rest and relaxation, whether for couples or for entire families.
The hotel is housed in a thermal area, next to a fantastic park, 20 km from the city of "coimbra" and 30 km of beaches.
It is located in the middle "Bairrada", an area known for its Portuguese gastronomic specialty, the "Leitão da Bairrada and the fabulous wines.
The hotel is set on a 19th century building.
The experience, especially in the library and in restaurants, relive the days when the hotel was built, a sort of time travel.
It is clear that the building being so old, and although some parts have been rebuilt and improved, much remains to be done, but unfortunately does not seem like the owners are very interested in it, which is a shame.
However the improvements made, stands out as a fantastic outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a jacuzzi, and a small but complete SPA.
As for the rooms they are spacious and comfortable, with huge bathrooms.
The rooms are cleaned usually involves, however, depending on the cleaning team, work can be better or worse, and when the work is done by the youngest woman, in my case, there was always reason to complain, for example, not change sheets, do not aspire to, not replace soap and shower gel, and even forget to replace the toilet paper. Still, the reception has always solved the problem in less than five minutes.
It indeed is the greatest failure of hotel, very few employees for a hotel of this size.
There will be a maximum of four employees to ensure the operation of services, it is possible to find the same person work at breakfast at 7 am and the bar at 23:00
The crisis can not justify this deplorable atitutde.
The breakfast itś greatl and higher than expected. The buffet is varied and quality products, however, as there are employees who reach the delay happens in the replacement of goods where the hotel is a little fuller.
As for the SPA, the prices on massages and treatments seem to me high, comparing them with hotels of higher quality, but access to some activities such as sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room is free, yet I think the managemant should be more vigilant to prevent children's access to these spaces because during my stay the jacuzzi was in maintenance / disinfection 3 full days due to the existence of child poop in the water.
Even with these drawbacks, the price / quality ratio is quite sound and so I recommend this hotel and think back.
I hope that the group "belver hotels" review both the quantity and quality of some employees so that in future the number of customer complaints decrease.

“Great for a few days combinisng business and leisure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

I was invited to go there as part of a group organised by a client.

We all had a great event and were impressed by the range of facilities and the friendly and quick service. The food was very good, both on buffet and when served in the restaurant.

the views were great and the breakfast excellent.

I would definitely recommend it ofr events.

“Really nice hotel for the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

Before coming to this hotel I read other reviews and I was a little suspicious but it was located in my way and it was the only one with rooms. When I was in the room I was still thinking about the reviews saying that the rooms where horrible and all of that. My room was big, nice, good view and the bathroom…hudge!! (I forgot to take pictures) I have been in many hotels and "Pensions" in Portugal and really, this Hotel is worth to try. Many of the reviews in Spanish don’t really describe the same hotel I was.
Of course it is not a real 4* hotel but I think I got better than I have expected. I have paid 70€ for 2 people and breakfast included, swimming-pool, Spa, gardens, history...what else can I expect with this price?

“Historical hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2006

This hotel is an old symbol of this Town.

It has some years, but it's very well preserved. Inside the hotel, you'll fell the mystic environment of old times. It’s like entering the time machine!

As you can see on my photos, the bar and library are amazing! But, don’t be scared on thinking rooms have the same type of furniture or decoration. I don’t have photos from rooms (Sorry!), but I can assure that they are good (big and perfectly cleaned), with “high” ceilings (like any old building).

The hotel has also a SPA. You can use the gym; do a massage, a bath mud, etc. Don’t forget, of course, of doing a reservation, because everyone wants that (and they have a small organization on the SPA… on the other words: they don’t have hands for everybody! :)

Right next the hotel, you’ll find a beautiful natural park with a lake.

I believe you’ll enjoy your stay in this hotel.
Have fun! At least, I did.
