We stayed at the Vignola for 3 nights during our 16 day adventure to Italy between Nov 4- 19. It was our second stop on our way from busy / chaiotic ( but wonderful ) Rome.
Other reviewers are quite accurate...it's off the beaten path and a bit hard to find as we continually doubted our GPS as we snaked our way through a cart part for a road in the mountains just before we arrived. Unless you are a very good map reader , we highly recommend a GPS.
Upon arrival we located one of the owners , Karen ( husband and wife team ). She is a very sweet and friendly person who will go out of her way to ensure your visit is a pleasant one. Her english is a little weak but we managed to commicate well enough . But then again , our Italian is non existant and after all , it is their country.
On the other hand , her husband has a better handle on our language of choice and in any case it turned out to be more of an invitation to converse than a barrier.
The rooms are by no means 5 star but for the price charged , they are more than suitable with a comfortable well sized bed , ample storage for clothes , a small fridge and a larger than expected ( by European standards ) bathroom. And best of all spotlessly clean !
The view from our room that opened out onto a small balcony was a sight to behold expecially in the morning when the sun would light up the distant mountain range.
The breakfast arranged and provided by the husband , Gianne ( spelling ? ) was the best by far of those we had during our trip as it supplies more than enough variety to get you going until lunch ...and then some. Great Capachinnos !
The location of this B&B will likely suit folks who have a car ( as we did ) as it is a few kms from the town of Levanto which is no doubt walkable in 15-20 mins. We just chose to save our energy for climbing up and down the hills of the 5 towns of Cinq Terre.
Bottom line : Location is great , service is outstanding , spotlessly clean , great breakfast and great value. High recommendation from us.
