I stayed here for ten nights in June/July 2005 as part of a self-organised holiday. It's easy enough to get across to Ischia and then get a very cheap bus to Sant'Angelo. Beware the rip off taxi drivers who will try to drive you along a 5minute walk and charge 10 Eur for the priviledge. The village is pedestrianised so you will have to take a golf buggy to the hotel, otherwise you'll never be able to find the hotel! The only disadvantage to the hotel is its location near the top of the village in that the slight incline would not be good for those with walking difficulties. Nevertheless this downside has its benefits, namely in the spectacular views from the hotel across Sant Angelo and out to sea. The view is utterly breathtaking! Fortunately we had a room directly overlooking the sea and the 'rock' of Sant Angelo. Our balcony was also massive so it was great to sit there in the evening and morning and watch ships etc pass by. On the roof of the hotel there is a sun deck which no one seems to use. The view is again amazing and you do get a great breeze up there which is good for cooling down! There's a terrace with swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers for everyone to use. Breakfast is served on the terrace and it's so peaceful and relaxing to sit there, overlooking the sea, the rest of the village, and on clear mornings, other land masses. We took the B&B option only. However you can pay for lunch which was delicious and there is a dinner option. We didn't take this purely because dinner was served between 7.30pm and 8.30pm which was too early for us. In terms of restaurants in Sant Angelo, those situated along the waterfront are not value for money and indeed do not seem to like tourists! Try the restaurants situated away from the waterfront for far better service and food. A further negative is that the village is mainly populated by German tourists so the locals only speak Italian and German. If you do not know any Italian then I suggest you pick up some phrases before you go otherwise you will starve for the whole holiday! The hotel staff were very very friendly (despite the language issues!) and the room was very clean. I would definitely return to the hotel again because it was everything I'd hoped for in terms of service and location. And, although this is a contradiction, I don't think I'd return to Sant'Angelo again because ten days there was sufficient. It's definitely the place to go for a relaxing holiday. We didn't visit Capri because we frankly couldn't be bothered. We also took a trip to Pompeii but the best thing to do is to visit before you go to Ischia. Otherwise it's a long round trip, as I found out!!
