3 of us spent a week at Venetiko apartments in August 2011. The owner Vagelis met us at the cathedral so we did not get lost, we have stayed in Naxos town twice before but we still would have got lost without Vagelis assistance.

Ventiko apartments are an old house converted into 5 letting studios/apartments, we stayed in the apartment for maximum of 4 guests on the first floor. There was a double bed in one room and 2 single beds in the living/kitchen area. Like most studios of this type you have to go through the double bedroom to access the living/other bedroom and the bathroom and the main entrance in our apartment opened into the double bedroom so these are ideal for young families or 2 couples who know each other very well. All other rooms seemed to have just couples so we were the only group of 3 staying at that time. The first floor rooms are light and airy, the lovely, welcoming owner Vagelis showed me the other rooms, all 3 rooms on the ground floor are darker but very nice. All apartments are furnished with antique furniture and much nicer than the norm in a studio of this standard.

We loved to eat our breakfast on the balcony each morning, the lovely August winds blew in the windows so we never used the air conditioning. The apartment was very quiet as it is located deep in the old town, it is the best location ever! Only 3 mins from the bus stop to the better beaches, the port and the sea front. We often joined the locals in the sea swimming pool next to the port to cool off and have a swim.

The apartment is very close to the loveliest and probably most authentic bakery in Naxos town, we visited for fresh bread every day and is right next to a great little supermarket full of loads of fesh fruit and vegetables.

In my opinion Naxos Town is a great place to stay, very interesting getting lost in the town, great choice of restuarants and bars, great location for the ferries, you can swim in the sea next to the port, the bus takes you door to door to the best beaches in Plaka but you can also walk for 10mins to the nearest 'proper' beach and beach resort.

Venetiko apartments was well equipped, very clean and the owner is very welcoming and helpful, we were given jams and fruit from his farm. Next time we stay in Naxos Town we shall book again at Venetiko apartments.
