“It gave my head peace”

We spent 3 lovely nights in this Auberge in the middle of July. It was part of a 2 week trip to Provence. We found it to be very peaceful and just what we needed. Our children are 15 and 12 and they were very happy with the lovely pool area. It is possible to have a simple but tasty lunch at shady outdoor area close to the pool.
The breakfast was good and the dinner excellent but as the other reviewers have commented it is a pity the menu does not change. Perhaps they are not keen to encourage people to stay for much longer than 2 or 3 nights. I was happy for our children to be a little more adventurous and eat from the normal menu. However, on the last evening we did request a simple dinner of pasta for them and this was provided with good grace and no fuss. My daughter said the carbonara was the best she had ever tasted!
It is shabby chic so do not expect Marriot facilities. However, it is very expensive as is the case everywhere in Provence. Here we didn't mind the price because the surroundings were so comfortable and unique.
We loved the simple decor. The bar area is particularly cosy although we were the only people who seemed to use it while we were there. It is very small but there is a chess board and a poker set which made my son very happy.
We loved eating outside under the stars and beside the river. That was very special.
The staff are friendly and courteous although you have to remember to ask for what it is you would like as it it is unlikely to be preempted. We found this to be the case in Provence in general and once you realise this is how it is life is much easier. In many ways it is more refreshing than the overarching hospitality which seems to be have become fashionable in the boom era.
We would love to return some day.

“Incredibly beautiful, relaxing auberge with outstanding food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Location: Outside of Bonnieaux in a remote idyllic place alongside a bubbling brook. (Bonnieaux is a stunning medieval town perched on the side of a mountain, but is very busy with tourists so we were pleased to visit but not stay there.) It felt like we were miles away from anyone and anywhere at Auberge de l'Aiguebrun, and the solitude and peacefulness was incredibly relaxing.
Accomodation: We were given a beautiful cabin on the bank of the brook. It was fully modernised but not in an IKEA way like so many boutique B&Bs, as this retained a sophisticated French country/ rustic charm. The bed and linen were luxurious, and it couldn’t have gotten any better sleeping with the sound of the babbling brook.
The property: This felt much more like a luxury hotel or retreat than a B&B, particularly as the service was highly professional and friendly. We felt like guests rather than customers. They said they were nearly fully booked but our entire stay was very quiet and we saw very few other guests. The pool and facilities were clean and inviting. There were 4 poster beds with white linen on the grounds by the brook where we more than happily enjoyed our champagne under the drifting clouds.
The food: Wow and wow. We were stunned by the freshness, quality and inventiveness of the dishes. We are quite critical gastronomes and it takes a lot to dazzle us. Consider us dazzled! And the ambiance of dining al fresco under the trees and stars on a lovely summer night was a perfect compliment.
Overall, this was a surprisingly decedent experience and we were very disappointed to have to leave after only one night. The chef and restaurant is certainly one of the highlights of this exquisite auberge, which is saying something because it was all amazing. We tried to think of something to mark this place down from excellent, but failed.

“Absolutely perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

We stayed at Auberge de l'Aiguebrun for 5 days in July 2010. This place is divine. Everything was perfect, starting from the secluded picturesque location to the tasteful traditional provencal room decor (we stayed in Tournerelle room), to the impeccable service and hospitality of staff (Nathalie especially). Excellent restaurant, luscious grounds and large pool with stylish lounge furniture, the stream with little waterfall, respectable guests, all Europeans. This place is a perfect setting for a wedding or honeymoon vacation, at night the staff turns on candles everywhere. A few important details - this place is 6 km from Bonnieux. It is probably not the best place for families with small children, as it is a very serene, almost zen-like place. My only wish would be for the restraurant to offer different menu - it is the same every day and you will need to drive elsewhere for dinner, if you want to try something new. That said, there are plenty of places in the vicinity to have an excellent dinner. One other minor detail - the mattresses are rather firm, which is typical to Europe, but linen is of great quality. We liked our daily breakfast on the terrace, they make fresh squeezed orange juice and offer cheese and ham, freshly baked croissants and bread, yogurt, fruits, nuts, coffee and tea. Also, if you travel with a well mannered dog, they might be able to accommodate you in a separate cottage they have on their enormous property.

“Off the beaten track, but a lovely auberge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

This hotel fit our needs well as it is close to paths that traverse the Luberon. Very relaxing and lovely site. Attractive pool. Pleasant restaurant, but with haughty maitre-d.

“Amazing nothing short of breath taking!!`”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

I stayed here for a wedding and I must say everything about this place is beautiful and breath taking like the area. The hotel staff were lovely, It was so relaxing and the staff were very friendly. We managed to have dinner at the restaurant which had previously won a Michelin award. I must say the food was absolutely amazing and everything served was above perfect. It was very clean and I would stay here again for sure any day.

The website does anything but justice for this site it is more than divine.
