We were only able to stay here one night at the end of a long driving day, but it was a nice/typical French boutique hotel and we enjoyed the time we had. It was already dark when we arrived, but we made our way to a “chalet” (one of the four “cottages”, on the stream, a short walk from the main building). Not much lighting there! But the chalets are adorable and comfortable and we slept REALLY well.
The restaurant is well-known for its food, but we were too late for dinner so instead just had wine in the cozy lounge with some snacks to unwind from the long drive. Breakfast was a traditional Le Petit Dejeuner, with wonderful breads and jams and fromage blanc. The dining room is lovely, and the pool area was too, but we had to hit the road again (with some fresh chocolate muffins the chef sent out for us when we checked out!)
The chalets are small one-room cottages. Each has a complete bathroom (with a shower, but not a tub of course), and satellite TV (never turned it on -- who needs a TV in such a lovely place?!) and complimentary coffee or tea. There’s a little covered porch with two comfy wicker chairs where we enjoyed our coffee.
Others have noted that it was hard to find Auberge de l’Aiguebrun - use the GPS coordinates from their website and you’ll get right there!
