“Bad customer service attitude - broken shower & bedside light”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

Took the last room available in the hotel but did not expect the shower to be broken. By the morning after a second shower the thing completely fell apart. One of the bedside lights was literally hanging off the wall as was the floor level socket complete with overloaded adaptors! The bedroom curtain fell off the rail. The toilet seat rocked from side to side. TV did not work. There were no adaquate emergency lights in the corridors which were pitch black. One had to go from one light switch to another just to reach the lift - very dangerous and needs attention immediately on safety grounds. On checking out in the morning I mentioned just a few of these faults and was met by surprise and complete indifference. Do they not ever go to check the rooms??? However the meal and service [by the same staff] in the restaurant was exemplary.

Room Tip: Check the room first!

“Not for a good night's sleep”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Stayed in room 210 for 3 nights. Room 209 blasted their television until 10pm each night and started up again at 5am each morning (4am on morning of last stay!). Asked to be moved, but was informed there were no rooms available despite seeing people check out each morning. Walls are clearly paper thin and I left the hotel, far from relaxed and rested. General hotel is tired and dark. Jonzac is a preety enough village; good for a bse to explore the area, but limited to no nightlife which doesn't help when your only option in the veneing is to sit in a noisy hotel room.

“Not good.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

We stayed here for one night en route to south of France. Expected hotel would enhance our journey experience! How wrong could we be.
Room and bed were clean enough. Noisy neighbours but quiet after 12.00pm.
But the room, loo and shower room were TINY. TINY. Could just squeeze into the loo if we turned sideways, knees touched the opposite wall. Shower was hot but TINY (and we are not big!)
Nowhere to hang up clothes. Couldn't get out quickly enough. Actually spoiled our journey down.
Had dinner and breakfast in restaurant. Both OK, no more. No vegetables / salad offered with the steak and potatoes. The cost of the meals was more than DOUBLE the cost of our rooms. Thought they had made a mistake! Eat out!

“Good location, basic restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2007

Have stayed here several times as there is very little choice in this area.

Lovely town with impressive 'historical feel'.

Hotel is very convenient for town centre and local restaurants & bars.

The hotel's own restaurant is somewhat basic with fixed menu/fixed price options available.

Fairly friendly staff (not all like the non-French visitor). Many guests seem to be travelling business men.

Rooms are basic but clean and, given the cheap price, value for money.

  • Liked — Value for money and location.
  • Disliked — Basic restaurant and basic rooms.
