We stayed at this hotel recommended by Rick Steve's book. I hope Rick removes it from his book as the owner charged us 4 night's stay after we left after 1 night because accommodations were sub par: room, bathroom, towels & breakfast.

Even after talking through problems for > 1 hour the owner insisted on charging us 4 nights & then even tried to charge our credit card for more than what we had agreed on.

We decided our freedom was worth more than 3 night's stay. Consider all your options & this family-owned hotel's declining state before committing to this "Hotel California"!

I had a wonderful stay in Hotel Maximilan with family and kids for 03days in Sept'11 end.Hospitality and cooperation from hotel staffs were excellent specially to mention Ms.Gabi.Panoramic view of mountain peaks from room window with lash green splashing meadows was really eye soothing. Children had very enjoyable time both indoor and out door game areas.Thank you, Maximilan for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable at Reutte....

We were greeted by Gabi who immediately asked if we were booked for Neuschwanstein Castle...if we weren't she would have done it!...your on-site travel agent. She also had suggestions for other sites to see and the best order in which to see them.
Our room was cozy with a little balcony looking to the mountains, cattle lowing from the pasture across from the hotel provided ambience!
The on-site restaurant is fabulous. The decor is modern with materials from local suppliers and the food and service superb. If we weren't in Tirol we would have thought San Francisco, it was that good.
Perfect location for visiting surrounding countryside. (Plansee, Linderhof Palace (a must see!) and Zugspitze on our way out of town.

Stayed here only 1 night, but it was terrific. Lady at front checked us in and gave us recommendations for the afternoon. Later, we ate an excellent dinner at the restaurant and our son played outside on the trampoline and playground equipment. Breakfast was quite good as well.

Laundry was a bargain at 6 Euros per bag,dropped off at 6pm and returned by morning.

Rooms were typical European size(small by US standards), but could fit me, my spouse, son, and 6 bags (including bike bag) comfortably.
