A gaggle of sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws stayed at the Meander Inn last weekend. It was the second stay for my with and me. In one sentence, we had a grand time....we don't go back to anywhere that produced a bad time.
Starting with early check-in on Friday Alain started with jokes and few barbs but everyone joked back and certainly nobody was offended. A short time laster Franchesca got home from work and the fun began. Out came wine, cheese, and all kinds of finger food. Our hosts made everyone feel comfortable and not afraid to ask for a few special accommodations.
Breakfast on Saturday was a feast with a bottomless cup of good coffee and bottomless glass for the orange juice. After directions to local wineries were distributed to our group we spent the day going to the big and the small wineries. Not being a huge wine drinker I'm not prepared to pass judgement on all of the wine. Check with Franchesca as the two wineries she specifically recommended were by far the best.
We all purchased dinner at the Inn Saturday night and were not disappointed. The food was outstanding. Alain entertained us with jokes (some a little off color, but nobody was offended), and kept pouring the wine. The wine was a table wine, but good none-the-less.
I wasn't sure I wanted to mention this part, but I feel compelled to share. Since my first stay at the Meander Inn I've spoken with the owners about spirits in the place. Alain and Franchesca told stories of guests who experienced paranormal experiences ...to include gray filmy figures, being touched, somebodt/thing sitting on the bottom of the bed. Well, something touched or ran what felt like fingers through my hair four times on Friday night. My wife and I were in Hatches Room, and I went over the room with a fine tooth comb and could not find a rational explanation.
OK....want fun hosts, a very eclectic setting, good food and wine, to die for scenery, and a chance to rub elbows with a spirit........try the Meander Inn. I know I'm going back and this time I'm requesting the room called Spirits Hide-Away.
