“Daily Rates are a Joke”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

My husband checked in for a week and the rate was 45 per night with the total of 320 dollars. we left and went to another town for a week and came back to check in for another week and he charged 58 per night total of 405 dollars .. well we checked in for another week @ 60 per night. Finally i got upset and asked the man what was his daily rate and he looked at me like i was crazy I told him what he did and he said he could give me back a dollar and some change.. I laughed and said is that all and then he had the nerve to ask my if i wanted to stay another week..I guess the rates would have went up to 80 dollars per night... Another problem was the room cleaners... I was in the shower and they knocked on the door I told them to hold on a minute while i got dressed before I could get to the door she opened it up on me and i was half dressed.. I told her to get out and all she could say was do you need towels... The Worst PLACE to STAY...GO somewhere else don't stay here.

“Basic Clean Hotel, adequete for a good nights rest, Good Value.”

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with the Hotel. I was hesitate in making my reservations after reading the reviews. I have a business and was in town for an Air Show at the "Flying Circus Airshow" and found this motel to be the most convenient to the Bealeton location. Obviously this family run establishment is advancing in a positive direction, the grounds are very attractive wih Bonsai trees, somebodies been working hard. Manager/Owner was friendly. Building the American Dream.

We had dinner at the Culpeper Thai Restaurant and Bar in town. Outstanding, friendly, clean, good food good prices and plenty of it.

Because of its value and cleanliness when I return to visit nearby Historical "Montpelier" Home of President James Madison with my mother and mother-in-law, we will stay here need I say more?

“Ok for one night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

The outside of the hotel seemed fine, the location is fine. There is even a nice little fountain, and a picnic table near a grill available.

But that's as good as this hotel gets, at least as far as my room goes. We ended up in the smoking area, which he said I signed up for and maybe I did. It smelled like a smoking room for sure. But even worse, the room was in such bad shape I had developed a pretty solid theory that someone had had a fight in this room. The lamp shades were pretty destroyed, the headboard of the bed could not stand straight, and the nightstand drawers were missing. Very odd things that could've easily been fixed in a place that was kept well.

It had also looked like there had been some flooding from the bathroom, but that didn't bother me so much.

Otherwise, the room was like your normal low cost hotel. Things aren't kept up, but it is serviceable and the sheets were sort of clean. We stayed there for one night as just a place to stay before a triathlon. It's cheap, and "better than sleeping in a tent," we decided.

The hotel claims Internet service but the signal wasn't strong enough in the back to make anything useful out of it.

  • Liked — cheap, location
  • Disliked — it would've been pretty hard to deal with for more than one night

“won't recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2007

We booked this hotel based on the last review and we should have listened to the review from 2005 that said "don't take your shoes off". The guy at the front desk barely spoke English and we were surprised when he stated that the hotel doesn't have handicapped rooms at all. It was an uncomfortable experience to say the least. The place seemed clean except for the dead bugs around the toilet. I was scared to turn the lights off of fear of what would come crawling out. All the furnishings looked like hand-me-downs. It is what I call a "dive". I could see paying $45 for this place but not $95 (which is what we did pay!) We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

“Deceptive”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2007

In February of 2007 I called the Inn to reserve 10 rooms for my July wedding. I told him some people would be staying one night and some would be staying two. My family wanted to see some of the local sights while they were here. The gentleman seemed happy to reserve the dates and quoted me $65 a night. I asked if he needed a credit card number or for me to come sign a contract. He said the information was on a yellow reservation card in the office and that was all that was needed. A month later I went in to look at the rooms and yellow card. The owners wife became instantly upset with the reservation. They had not realized when I made it that there was a large horse show in the area that week. I asked if the reservation was ok but never got a definitive reply. In April my family began to reserve rooms. Imagine my shock when they called to say they were being told between $79 and 85 a night. I drove over there and the wife was rude from the moment I walked in. I asked to see the card and saw that it had been altered. I tried to explain that it was not my fault that it was a horse weekend and my family should not have to pay fpr their mistake. She argued and called her husband who threatened to cancel the reservations. I got upset at that point and left. I contacted coperate and they did nothing. In June he began denying one night stays by my relatives. He started calling me and saying that he could get more money and more nights from the horse show people. With the wedding only weeks away, I could do nothing. He never did reduce the price and my family had to pay for his mistake.
