I have been staying at this Hamption Inn for a month on business. My experience has been fantastic. I have had interaction with both the management and the staff and those communications have always been positive. The hotel is located within walking distance of shopping and dining. Additionally, the rooms are well configured and the beds are very comfortable. Each room has a small regrigerator and microwave, which makes it easy for storing food and leftovers. The breakfasts are always rotating, so despite staying here for almost 30 days, I have enjoyed a good variety of items. I strongly recommend this hotel for its overall performance in the areas of service, hospitality and location.

I stayed at this hotel for nearly 2 months and can't express how pleased I was. The staff is simply outstanding; they are friendly, outgoing, and solved any problems or issues I had without hesitation. I wish all hotel staffs were this pleasant to deal with, they go well above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay; I felt they really cared how my stay was and wanted to ensure it continually pleasant.

The rooms themselves are nice, just what you would expect from Hampton Inns. The indoor pool and hot tub are an added benefit.

Cons:
The hotel is located downwind from a landfill, so sometimes the smell outside is quite disgusting, but it never made it inside the hotel.

Overall, an exceptionally friendly staff and a very nice stop for anyone in the area.

We are Hampton Inn-loyal and always stay at them when we travel, if possible. This particular Hampton is a lovely property on the surface - unfortunately, it's near a wastewater treatment facility that puts out a horrendous smell in the surrounding area - including inside the hotel. We first noticed it on the road driving up to the entrance and hoped it would not be inside. Sadly, it was - in the hallways, the rooms, the public areas, etc. When we asked about it at the front desk, we were told no other guests had mentioned it. Another couple arrived to check in just after us and they, too, immediately asked about the odor - so we clearly were not the only ones aware of it. Our rating is low because the hotel staff wasn't honest about it right away and tried to make us feel we were the sole travelers who could smell it. If you stay here, be aware you may have a less-than-pleasing smell permeating throughout the hotel and in your room. We would not stay here again.

I have had the opportunity of traveling to Colonial Heights for business many time over the last few years. I have stayed in almost all of the local hotels from time to time. I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn that is nearby which is also a sister hotel to this Hampton Inn, both by Franchise and by both of them having the same owner. I really like the exterior design of this Hampton but was very disappointed by the stark white painted walls and economy design on the guest rooms. The guest rooms felt so much like a motel 6 room to me that I checked out of the hotel and went back to the older sister Hilton Garden Inn.
