“Not the best!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We stayed here as a stopover whilst doing the Skyline/Blue Ridgeway drive. On the positive side, the location is good for the university district and the reception guy (Robert) was both very friendly and helpful.

The property itself was a bit grim though. Looked very run down and in need of a good facelift. Rooms are motel like and are accessed directly from outside, so didn't feel entirely safe. The room itself was very basic, although clean enough. Compared to the Days Inn we had stayed at the previous two nights in Gettysburg, this one was definitely second rate.

“Skip this one.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

You had to put your shoulder to the room door to get it open and slam it to get it shut. The ceiling in the bathroom looked like it might fall down and when we showered the water didn't drain out so you ended up standing in water. Also the tub felt like it was floating which made it hard to keep your balance. The blankets on the bed were OLD and needed replacing. The swimming pool was closed. The dining area was like eating in a cave it was so dark. Place needs a lot of updating. Only nice area was the lobby.

“Mixed Bag!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

This is a hotel that has seen better Days--before ongoing renovation left parts of it looking like a demilitarized zone, before the departure of Red Lobster left nothing but an empty shell where a restaurant used to be, and before the pool was reduced to a gigantic rainwater catch basin. That was my initial impression. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. This was an asset. The first room I was assigned had an unpleasant odor. I asked to be moved. The second room had no bath towels. The desk clerk remedied the problems immediately. The room itself was spacious and relatively comfortable. The Internet connection was sluggish, as was the bathtub drain. The water pressure and height of the shower were good, though. The room rate was high, but I believe that it is competitive for the area, which is expensive. Given the difficulties, I might look around a bit more should I return to the area. All told, though, I would consider staying here again.

“very poor choice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

This is my first review of a hotel, but wanted to warn fellow travelers about this Days Inn. It was expensive (129$ with AAA discount), shoddy and poorly maintained, with poor plumbing facilities in our room, rusty supports for ceiling tiles, swimming pool "under renovation", dining area without A/C - hot and "under renovation", with minimal choice of breakfast food. Most shocking was our room's bathroom door that stuck when shut and could not be opened by the person in the bathroom - a truly dangerous situation for singles travelers.

“Good value for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

This hotel was great for one night's rest during a two week road trip. The location was close to UVA, vineyards, and Monticello. The staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions. Overall the experience was pleasant for the price. They are working on remodeling the pool, so be aware if you are dead set on laying out by the water.
