“overpriced but okay if you are desperate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We stayed here because it was the only hotel we could find during the Hurricane. We had been evacuated from the coast paid $155 for one night. Considering that the Hilton we stayed at the next night was cheaper, this price is outrageous.

The room was clean but extremely budget level. The bathroom was basic and it took two of us to get the shower to work. The A/C unit was extremely loud and we didn't get much sleep but at least it covered the noise of the dogs barking and people hanging out on the walkways smoking.

I gave this hotel an average rating because the staff were awesome. The guy on the front desk was overwhelmed with a lobby full of evacuees looking for rooms but he kept his cool and did a great job. We had a different guy during checkout and he was very friendly and checked to make sure that we would be okay for the rest of our ordeal.

“A completely average, older motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

My wife and I were trying to play "guess the age of the motel" when we arrived (not sure, probably late '60s). Looks like is was an original Holiday Inn, and still maintains that vibe today, with rooms opening to the outside. The current owners have spent SOME money on the property, so it's not awful, but there's really no reason to recommend this place other than it was reasonably cleaned and furnished, the beds are good and the plumbing worked (although the toilet was incredibly noisy).

Breakfast was actually slightly below a typical Quality Inn as the only hot foods were biscuits and gravy and the waffle machine. Staff seemed a little slow to restock and empty the trash, which reflected poorly on the overall service at the motel.

Using my Choice rewards points, I was able to upgrade to the Executive Room, which actually had an in-room jacuzzi (even though the website made no mention of it).

The bottomline is that this is more than an acceptable place to crash for a night (good central location in Charlottesville), but there's no reason to particularly recommend it unless it's cheaper or you have no other decent choice.

“Nothing elegant, but clean and comfortable for a one-night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2011

We were just passing through Charlottesville and got a good deal on the Choice Hotels website. Nothing to complain about. The room was nothing fancy, but everything worked fine, including the wi-fi. Breakfast was actually pretty good as these hotel buffets go. The location is not attractive -- hotel is wedged in between two other hotels and a highway -- but we did not hear highway noise. I would like something nicer for a long stay, but it did us just fine for sleeping.

“Comfort and quality at a better price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Me and partner enjoyed our stay. We loved the breakfast bar. We were surprised to see a continental breakfast for the price we paid. We went through choice hotels and got a better deal. Staff was also very good, helped us to take printouts from their office.

“Reminiscent of a crime scene”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

Save your money and go somewhere else.
This is a motel that is under new management and it shows.
The room was dirty (carpets in need of cleaning, bathroom with stains on the ceiling and walls, dirty tub, dirty sink, dust everywhere). Can't comment on the service, as we didn't call on anyone.

Bottom line is this place is a dump.
