“Three day stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

My wife and I generally stay at Marriott locations when we travel. We typically know what to expect and are seldom disappointed.
This time we stayed in a one bedroom suite and found it clean, comfortable. The staff was very attentive, helpful and friendly.

In the final report, we will return to this location as it was an above average experience for a Residence Inn.

Room Tip: We typically choose to stay on a higher floor but where provided a first floor location and didn'...

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Good location -- though not quite "central," it's right behind the extensive and good Barracks Shopping Malls, and Charlottesville's a small enough town that you can get cross-town in 10 minutes from here anyway. (I did, because I attended meetings at the Omni on the other side of town.) The unit was to be a "double," and it turned out to be a large suite, at no extra charge, with bed, sitting area with couch (probably a pullout), huge and excellent TV (42" maybe) on a swivel, FULLY equipped kitchen, with not only plates, bowls, cooking utensils, flatware, cooking knives, etc., but also dishwasher, stove, etc. All for the price of a regular hotel room. Kept very clean. The included breakfast was superior in choices available and quality. Real scrambled eggs, for example, the way you might make them yourselves; lots of sides, even salsa for those eggs. Many choices of breads/pastries, cereals, fresh fruit....

“Perfect!”

We have relatives in the area so have visited C-Ville often. We have stayed at the Hampton Inn downtown, the Omni, The Doubletree and the Courtyard next to the University. This place was the best so far. The location is perfect if you want to be near the University and excellent shopping. It sits right behind the Barracks Road shopping center which is an outdoor mall with many brand name stores ( Black and White, Banana Republic, Barnes and Noble, etc) with eateries, like Panera Bread, 5 Guys burgers, a CVS pharmacy and Kroger's grocery too. Nice thing is its within easy walking distance of the center. The room we had was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a full kitchen and living room with a fireplace. Prefect for a family of 4 so we didn't get in each others way. The suite had 3 flat screen TV's, on each bedroom and one in the living room. The best part was it was a very nice property and we paid less of r the 2 bedroom suite than I've ever paid for one hotel room at any of the other places I mentioned. WHile the street it is on is a busy one, our room was erectly quiet. Actually less noise than most of the others I've stayed at in town. We will be back.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor in the back of the hotel so it was very quiet. A bit further to walk but we...

“Bad Reservation Policy”

I'm not sure if all Residence Inn's have this policy. If you call them and try to book, they automatically transfer you to some international booking department. I want to talk to someone about the hotel who is actually AT the hotel so I can have specifics about the hotel answered.

“Met all expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We do not normally stay at a Residence Inn, but chose this location based on availability over a three day weekend. Met our expectations as far as the room, cleanliness, etc. The rooms are large and have a kitchen area. Bathrooms are small but functional. Bed had plush top and was very comfortable. Hotel was full but we had no hallway noise, perhaps bc the beds are back away from the door, compared to most hotels. Breakfast was far better than at most hotels, with eggs, sausage, strawberries, etc. along with all of the other standard items. Desk staff was friendly and helpful. We forgot toothpaste, called downstairs and it was at the door in just a few minutes. Asked about local wineries and received a map and personal recommendations. Conveniently located to UVa and old downtown area, but not within walking distance. Close to Barracks Road shopping.
