“Not impressed!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We reserved a room here because it was close to UVA Hospital and was really affordable. The room that we got was descent - flat screen TV, fridge, microwave. Off the bat, the bathroom was not cleaned very well and the carpets were in desperate need of cleaning themselves. That picture on their website of the pool is just laughable! When we had to extend our stay at the hotel, we were not permitted to keep the same room and my Mom and I ended up in a single bed room which was incorrectly over charged by the front desk and the attendant refused to fix. We had to change rooms immediately because half of the room was without power. The thing I noticed most during all of our moving at the motel was that every rooms amenities are very different - rooms may or may not contain things like coffee makers, hair dryers, and microwaves. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Red Roof in the same vicinity - much nicer!

“Gone downhill”

I have stayed at this Econo Lodge several times in the past, but this was the first time I stayed there for about 2.5 years. It used to be a great value--not too expensive, but still clean and nice. However, this is no longer the case. The first thing we did when we checked in was kill a couple of spiders in the bathroom. Next, we wondered what the various stains on the carpet were. While the room had been cleaned before we got there, it had clearly been a while since it had been deep-cleaned. We will definitely be staying elsewhere on future visits.

“no light”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Well, we don't really expect a lot for $90 since we're going to see a concert, but not having a light in the bathroom for the duration of the stay was not acceptable. By the way, taking a shower in a small hotel room with no light is not good either! I tried to get over the fact that a condom wrapper was just swept outside our door during cleaning and awaiting us as we arrived. In reality, this place is really a dump. But cheap. You decide what you think. I hope I don't bring bedbugs home...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review; I apologize that you experienced a problem during your stay, if you had let our staff know about the burned out bulb in your room someone could have come changed it for you, as for the piece of trash outside your room, we clean our walkways several times a day, being a limited service hotel we do not have cleaning staff 24 hours a day like a large full service hotel, so I am sorry that someone else in the hotel droppped a piece of trash close to your room door. if you are concerned about bedbugs, don't be; we have certificates from our regular pest control company and they bring a special dog to ensure we dont ever have a issue, we are very proactive when it comes to that. Again thank you for taking the time to write a reveiw.

“Much better then I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I was not expecting much from this hotel considering the price, but it was a lot nicer than i thought. I could not find a parking spot when we first got there, but we found more parking around the back. Check in went smooth. You know when are in the the girl at check in calls you honey. It was a nice touch. The beds where comfortable, bathroom clean. We did have one small problem, smoke detector was beeping due to low battery in the room next door. We told the cleaning staff, but it was never fixed. I would stay there again.

“Avoid Please”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

This place is in need of a total refurbishment from the foundations up and rebuilt...The room smelt of stale smoke and damp. I did go and complain and the receptionist did offer to come and spray the room with febreeze... We slept fully clothed on top of the beds as they were as bad as the room. The pool had never been cleaned in months and had started to grow fungi and other jelly like unidentified germs on the bottom. There was a lot of coming and going in the night !!!.
By 8am next morning we were in another hotel..

Room Tip: Book another hotel.
