Room was clean and comfortable. A bit dated in the hallways and only one elevator all the way in the back of the hotel. Staff was nice and rate was reasonable. Decent location but certainly not a walk to UVa. Much better than the Fairfield across the road.

“Very Nice Courtyard, Excellent Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Spent one night here in early December and did not have a lot of time here, but was very impressed with the cleaniness and comfort of my room. Recently when I've been traveling I've tended to stay more at Holiday Inn Express, but Marriott's Courtyards are much nicer. There are two Courtyards in Chalottesville, and I think some of the other reviewers on TripAdvisor have confused between the two. This one is off the major highway into town & UVA, but a bit of drive to UVA on a very busy highway.

My room was a king-size bed with couch area. Very, very large (more than 52 inch) flat-screen TV. Room was very well set-up for business travel, i.e., great desk area and well-lit for working. Room and bed were very comfortable. No negatives, but the bathroom set up was a little bit odd with the toliet crowded in the corner and then a lot of unused space to the tub.

The breakfast was great! The eggs (the real test of buffets) were very good; great selection of cereals, along with bacon, sausage, etc. The waitress who pours the coffee could have come around more often, but otherwise this was a very nice breakfast arrangement with plenty of seating and very, very clean buffet and dining area. In the lobby area, there was a cozy fireplace, a good business center and coffee to go. Also, there was ice tea available to drink / take to go! Wonderful!

I've stayed elsewhere in Charlottesville - the regular Holiday Inn and the English Inn (both of which are off the same major highway as the Courtyard, but are slightly closer to town); however, this place was much nicer --- of course, it was also more expensive.

“Great location, funny musty room smell.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed here for a college visit and it is a great location to the campus. Nice lobby, good buffet breakfast, they will do special order eggs for you. But when we got back to the room it had this bad, musty/moldy smell that never went away. Good covered parking, but tight to maneuver. Very pricey but that must be the going rate so close to campus. We checked in late in the evening and opened the door to discover our beds were completely stripped. They moved us to a new room no problem. The front desk staff was very nice.

“Close to UVA”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed here during Family Weekend at UVA. It was located on Rt29, which is easy access to restaurants and within a couple miles of the UVA Campus. I think it is pricey for the area and accomodations. The hotel is nice and but definitely not a $200+ a night. I would rate it alittle above average. The breakfast was included in the price...the food was average, but the quantity was sufficient. The staff was very courteous and friendly.

“The Typical Marriott Courtyard Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I stay at Marriott Courtyards while traveling so I do not experience anything unexpected or unpleasant. For me staying at a Marriott Courtyard is almost as good as being home. The same is true for this location. Upon arrival, I was greeted promptly and attended to immediately. Not knowing the area the Front Desk man told me where my wife and I might like to have dinner. He then instructed me on the best way to get around Charlottesville during rush hour. These two small blurbs of information helped tremendously. If I were ever in the area, again I would definitely stay at this property again.

Room Tip: When entering the hotel in the back for the elevator remember that you are below the 1st floor.
