My husband and I spent 12/30-1/1 at the Sunset Beach Resort. This was our second time at the hotel. We were expecting a quiet time since our last visit was in the warmer months and we thought fewer people would be there. We did not know there was a special for fishermen and there were many noisey men that had parked their trucks and boats in the back of the hotel. When they returned from their fishing day they had to share stories I am sure, but they did quiet down later in the evening. Much to our dismay of course, they were up early the next day (12/31) for another round on the water. It was very early and they were very noisey. My husband and I were awakened by the slamming of doors,diesel pick-up trucks running, and loud talking around 5 am. We were not expecting to wake up so early. The room was very nice, but by no means sound proof. When we first arrived we did have trouble with the television reception, but the staff helped us quickly get a clearer picture. The staff at the reception area and the housekeeping staff have been very nice to us. We did not have the difficulties with staff some have talked about on this review site. This stay we also had the problem with the hot water in the shower that is mentioned. While showering, the hot water would come out scalding, and I would have to jump away from the water flow. The sunsets were absolutely gorgeous both nights we were there and made up for any inconvenience of noise and scalding hot water. The hotel also had a New Year's Eve party we did not know about until we signed in so we didn't take part in the event, but my husband and I still had a very enjoyable time.
