On arrival we were welcomed by the owner Daniel & shown to our room in the newly built annex. Our room, (#9) was spacious and well equipped with a very comfortable king bed, settee, armchair coffee table and gas log fire, cable TV, iron, ironing board and clothes closet. The room was extremely clean and light with windows on two opposite sides of the room giving views of the garden and car park. We found sitting on the settee in front of the gas log fire enjoying a bottle of wine very relaxing after a long drive. The bathroom was spacious with a Jacuzzi bath and overhead shower. We were staying for 2 nights and Daniel had very kindly recommended a couple of places to eat, the traditional and authentic Blue Dan Diner and the stylish Allegro Restaurant where we enjoyed some delicious Italian cuisine. We tried both and whilst quite different, they were really good experiences and excellent recommendations.
Breakfast on both days, served on individual tables in the main hotel building a few yards across the car park, was good and consisted of a self serving of cereal, a delicious granola, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice etc. followed by a served hot course. On one day it was a very tasty and fluffy ham & cheese omelette and on the second day maple ham and French toast made from croissants, an unusual but delicious version.
In the afternoon there was complimentary cake and coffee/tea available.
The Alexandra operates a small reasonably priced honesty bar with a good selection of spirits, beer etc. and complimentary sodas.
Daniel also offered some very helpful suggestions on scenic drives and places of interest, which he kindly marked on a map he gave us.
A very enjoyable stay made all the more so by the friendly and helpful advice from Daniel and his team.
