“Beautiful Lake with Cozy Cabins!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

First a little about the lake: Spirit Lake is BEAUTIFUL!!! We arrived a little before sunset and the reflection on the water of the sky and the trees was breathtaking!

Now for Spirit Lake Lodge and Cabins: The lodge is nice and they sell little things like bug spray, cool pocket knives, and cards. There is a big wrap-around deck on the lodge that overlooks the meadow - perfect for watching moose or elk. The cabins are small but very cozy. They have wood burning stoves in them and ours kept us HOT all night!! We had to open the windows for a bit overnight because we were so hot! Each cabin has its own private deck and ours (Geronimo) was right in front of a stream. The stream was big enough that we could hear it from inside our cabin so we fell asleep to the bubbling water. They do have bathrooms with flushing toilets, sinks, and mirrors. The cabins are furnished with a bed (with linens), a table, a chair, a set of shelves, and a wood burning stove. There is running drinkable water. They have canoes and paddle boats you can rent... I'm not sure of the price but their website (www.spiritlakeutah.com) would probably say.

We went in July and the mosquitoes were pretty bad. The owners, Bob and Linda, told us that in August all of the mosquitoes are gone so I'd definitely recommend going in August.

“Heaven on Earth!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2007

Just got back from a wonderful weekend at Spirit Lake Lodge. This is our third stay at Spirit Lake, and it's becoming one of our favorite summer activities.

The Lodge is beautiful and provides good food, considering they're working with limited resources (everything must be brought in daily, and they have no power at the lodge unless the generator is running!) Breakfast, lunch and dinner menu's are minimal but provide something for everyone.

The rental cabins (9 in total, from 2 to 8 person cabins) are reasonably priced but rustic -- with wood burning stoves and comfortable beds. Large decks on the cabins give you unbelieveable views. Again, there is no power in any of the cabins, and heat is only provided by the wood buring stoves. There are group bathroom facilities and shower rentals nearby.

Boat rentals are available for boating and fishing on Spirit Lake. We rented a paddle boat for a great morning spent fishing for brook and cuthroat trout that just wouldn't stop hitting our lines! While fishing we were able to watch two osprey during their morning fishing, they were unbelieveably fun to watch.

The meadows near the lodge are frequently visited by moose, elk and deer. We also were able to catch a glimpse of beaver nearby on lower Sheep Creek.

Our cabin was right next to the creek, and there was plenty of firewood nearby to keep our cabin warm during the cooler evening. The sound of the creek flowing right by our window was the only sounds we heard as we drifted off to sleep.

If you're looking for a fun vacation location where there are no frills but views to die for, this is the place for you!

  • Liked — location, location, location (nothing else like it!)
  • Disliked — longer hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner
