“Convenient and friendly”

I stayed here with my boyfriend in December. The location was pretty easy to find and the staff inside was very friendly, funny and enjoyable. The staff even made the guests some fresh chocolate chip cookies. The rooms were attractive and comfortable. Everything was very clean and the color schemes inside the hotel were fresh and inviting. The elevators were quick and efficient and the rooms were quiet. They had a great selection of tv channels including complementary HBO. There is a movie theater and plenty of restaurants, fast food places and drug stores near by, as well as Nasa space center and Kemah Boardwalk. The sleep was great, and we encountered no issues.

Stayed here for downtown convention. Took 30 minutes to downtown, but still nicer than hustle bustle. Solid value for quality.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter

“Updated decor and quiet rooms”

Great location down by NASA with lots of entertainment and food options nearby. Only down to this location is the breakfast, would not recommend the powered eggs.
Rooms have tons of power outlets and a nice workstation. Mini-fridge and microwave are always nice to have, and a shower with hot water and lots of pressure.

“Failed to hold room with 2 queen beds.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Our party of four adults arrived late Novermber 5th. And at first we were given a room with a single king and a hide away bed with 4 inch thick mattress and I had reserved a room with 2 queen beds in March. I returned to the desk and ask for the room that I had reserved in March and no other rooms were available. I was first informed that it was a error with reservation process. And then I was told that they had a agreement with the military and they recieved top priority for rooms with 2 beds and basicly it was first come first serve. After driving 11 hours that day we were so tired and we accepted the room We were credited $21.85 tward the cost of our room. This is my first bad experience with a Marriot property.

“Love the new, more modern Springhill Suites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Ok. Once again Marriott has won me over with a property -- and that stings a little because I am loyal to Hilton and Priority Club first and Marriott second (Diamond/Platinum on them vs. only Gold... probably slipping to Silver this year at Marriott). That isn't because I don't care for the Marriott brand -- it's just tough to stay in budget as they generally cost more.

Occasionally though I have the good fortune (?) of finding myself in a town where Marriott is the only choice in budget or the only hotel with availability. This was, thankfully, one of those times. I'm currently on day 2 of a 3 day stay at this hotel. I'm on the first floor and have very few complaints about the property. Upon check-in (veerrrrry early -- 9am) the front desk staff (I think her name was Nia) was extraordinarily friendly. She laughed and joked with us and very quickly and efficiently got us checked in. She didn't make mention of our Marriott Rewards status other than to offer a survey that, if we filled it out, we would get 500 bonus points. I asked her if I could have ten. She laughed.

The hotel itself is one of the new, modern, hip and trendy SpringHill Suites. Kind of like they bought the whole place at Ikea. I'm 38 years old so the days of me being hip and/or trendy have long ended, but I have to admit I really like the clean lines and modern look of the hotel. The place is absolutely spotless from the lobby to the guest rooms to the gym... you name it. As someone who spends a lot of time in hotels over the course of a year, cleanliness is a big plus in my book.

When you walk into your room there is a sitting area with a couch on the left, a desk/table with a passthrough to the "bedroom" and a king bed. The HD/LCD tv can be swiveled to face either living area. There is also a microwave, coffee maker, and dorm-sized fridge. LED lights are over each side of the bed. If I were traveling with my spouse that would be great for reading or working without keeping the other person up late. The clock had an iPod charging area which was nice, but the time was wrong and I couldn't figure out how to change it. Stinks being old.

The coolest feature of this room is that there are two separate bathrooms -- perfect if you were traveling with a family. One had a commode and sink, the other a sink and shower (no tub). Both very clean and modern -- but what was cool is that they both had pocket doors. That gives bank a tremendous amount of space in the room and i'm surprised other hotels haven't caught on. The doors just slide into the walls when not in use.

The gym was very clean and well appointed with 2 treadmills and an elliptical along with a few free weights.

The hotel is adjacent to a movie theater, a bowling alley, and has a few restaurants within walking distance.

My only complaint, and I realize this is picky, is that the towels and bathmat look like they must have been stolen from the motel 6 down the street. They are the thinnest, cheapest bath towels I think i've ever seen. If you hold them up to the light you can just about see through them. Seriously. It's a shame that with all of the thought and effort they have clearly put into making the rest of the hotel way above average, this little detail was lost.

Walls were also paper-thin. I heard a baby crying for much of the night.

All in all, I'd stay again. I'm at 16 Marriott nights this year... doesn't look like I have a shot at holding Gold again for next year. Oh well.
