As a La Quinta Rewards member, here's my experience as I frequently use La Quinta Inns on travel and booked an "Executive King"...Upon check-in I was told by Jenna (Front Desk) that this was a 100% smoke free hotel and was required to sign an affadavit indicating I would be charged if any signs of smoking...upon opening the door to my room it "reaked of cigarette smoke" and the smoke detector was going off every 5 secs beeping...next the room would best be described as an old king room. In order for this to be considered an "Executive King" as I have previously experienced in Cocoa Beach, FL or Atlanta, GA area this place would need serious renovation. When I complained to Jenna at the front desk we were told that she would get back with us in 10 minutes for a possible move and that this floor-3rd used to be a "smoking" floor (as was evidenced by the new owner trying to use a blower at the end of the hallway to get rid of some of the smoke-what a joke!) Also, she said no maintenance was there to fix the smoke detector-isn't that a state law to have a functional/properly working smoke detector? When Jenna finally called us back she said she make a move, but it would be on the same floor-3...smoking floor...which the hotel is 100% smoke free-not!!! All Jenna could do was keep replying with a "robotic" response "I'm sorry for your inconvenience"-lmao. Now imagine the shock when I requested an immediate refund and am told that it may take 14 days for the refund (Wow-this is how La Quinta treats reward members...imagine what a free night would consist of...lol...Finally, I asked for the manager and all Jenna could say is that her name is "Hope", but she really did not know her that well or even know her last name....The best ending is that I contacted the Hilton and got a rate with breakfast(room service), complimentary wi-fi, and a room with a nice view of Clear Lake on the Hilton Honors floor!!! The front desk girls were very professional and greeted us with a smile. Only $40 more than La Quinta and I did not have to have a "rewards" card. In summary, this La Quinta gets a "Terrible" rating for customer service, reservations, professionalism, and for their treatment of a La Quinta "Rewards" Member! Run, Run, very fast towards the Hilton...unless you are a heavy chain smoker and do not care about Quality when travelling. Folks don't do it! Spend your money WISELY...ELSEWHERE!
