“Very relaxing”

The Tanglewood Resort on beautiful Lake Texoma was very clean, welcoming, and the food was great! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I was there for a ladies retreat and the staff treated us like we were queens! Tanglewood Resort was family friendly, with a large swimming pool, game room, and wonderful views of the lake. I can't wait to go back with my family!

“Nice facility but unit not wheelchair accessible”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

First the positives. We had a two bedroom unit with a full kitchen. The master unit had a king bed, a whirlpool tub and a separate shower. It also had a half bath near the entrance. It also had one of the best stocked kitchens we've even had which was a good thing as we were there for Christmas. Among other things, we cooked a whole turkey in the oven. The dining room setup was also very good.
The second bedroom was essentially a lock off hotel room with two queen beds, a microvave, small refrigerator and table.
Both units had large closets and there was a full size washer and dryer in the master.
Staff were very pleasant and tried their best to accommodate our needs. If we had all been fully mobile, it would have been a great unit.

Now the less positive aspects. One of our party has limited mobility and uses a wheelchair and needs bars in the bathroom. We had specifically requested and ADA accessible unit with a roll in shower. We had even called ahead several times to ensure we would get such a unit. Well, in reality, none of the units in the villas are accessible. To make matters worse, the whirlpool tub is so large that the walkway to the shower and toilet area is too narrow for a wheelchair. Another guest told us that a walker barely fits. The bathroom in the other unit only had a full tub which would not be workable for a mobility limited individual. As our individual could walk short distances with a cane, we managed to get them to the shower in the Master. The staff did get us a bench for the shower and adapted the shower head to a handheld unit. If you have limited to no mobility, these units would be a challenge.

We did not eat at the on-site restaurants. so we can't comment on those.

The so called game room left a lot to be desired (we just walked through).

Fortunately, we were planning on cooking as the resort is pretty remote. There are restaurants in Dennison but we didn't use. The Super Walmart is about 5 or so miles away and we obtained everything we need from there.

It was winter, so we didn't use the lake or play golf, although it was warm enough our last few days and we could have played golf.

If we weren't mobility impaired we would consider staying again.

“average place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

stayed here for a wedding. The employees are very nice, but the room needs to be remodeled. They had tall ceilings but you could hear the people upstairs walking around. How much walking could you do in the small rooms but someone upstairs walked around constantly. Pillows were not comfortable. Cheap wal-mart type of pillows. Really not worth the price.

“Wish I could fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Went for a weekend of fishing but other than the guided tour my first day, there was no where else to fish. Don't bother to bring your pole unless you want to drive 20 min. Barnacles food was good (club sandwich and fries) but the commodore steakhouse left much to be desired. Had crabcakes and crab bisque for apps and decided to stop there. Rooms and staff were nice and everything was very affordable. Disappointed that the elevator to the tower was broken for three days. Feel sorry for the people staying there. Three nights was enough to do everything around three times over. Sure wish they had a dock to fish from, since they are right on the water!!!

“We have returned several times”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Tanglewood is close to where we live, so it requires a simple drive. For the drive, we get a comfortable place to stay, usually a view, and time away with family. I would guess there are more things to do than we have taken part in during our stay, but I do recommend a massage. We we mostly there just to be together so we are not looking for much out of service. I don't think I can comment knowledgeably about that.

There is a very interesting liqueur store on the way to Tanglewood that is located in an old home - worth visiting if you would like a bottle of wine, good selection. We mostly cooked for ourselves. I always return rested and refreshed.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the lake. There is a balcony in each room.
