Expensive for this old hotel.....all the other hotels were booked
and we were tired therefore could go any futher.

This is a good independent motel, and I was pleased with my stay. It's in great shape and the staff were attentive while I was there.

The owners seem to have put a lot of work into upgrading what appears to be a former Travelodge. Inside and out, the property looked very nice, and the room was comfortable, tastefully (and uniquely) decorated, and thoroughly clean. Don't hesitate to walk barefoot on the carpet. The bed in my room (106) seemed brand new and more comfortable than any motel bed in recent memory. The room also had a fridge and microwave, as well as complimentary popcorn and bottled water, although the tap water was fine too.

The only minor complaint I have is with the cost of the room. I typically consult this site as well as some of the travel-booking sites to get an idea of motel rates, then call the hotel directly to reserve the room. Almost always, the rate I get is the same or better than what I'm offered online. This motel advertised a rate of $49.99 at one of the travel sites. When I called, the woman who answered told me the rate was $55.10+tax. I mentioned the travel site, and she claimed to be unaware that anyone was offering that rate on their behalf. She did tell me that she might be able to offer that rate if they weren't busy when I got there. Naturally, when I got there, they were indeed too busy, so I had to pay the extra $5 (to her credit, I think the motel did fill up that night). $55 is still a decent price for this place, but it's odd that a web site (one with advertised rates, not one that solicits bids) could offer a better deal than the owners themselves.

One other comment--not positive, not negative: this motel is located at the eastern edge of Pecos, along what was probably the main road into town before I-20 was built. Today, nearly all of the businesses have moved out by the interstate, and this part of town is all but abandoned. I never felt unsafe here, and the quiet neighborhood made for a peaceful night's sleep, but you will have to drive a ways if you need food, gas, or groceries.

I should know I was born and raised in Pecos moved away and when i go back to visit my family I stay there enjoy it and I know its clean, would not stay anywhere else except my moms but I like to stay there. I have gone back home several times and would not stay anywhere else.

Staff was very nice. Rooms were clean, large and well equiped. Great value and excellent place to stay.
