This was our second visit to this lovely hotel and we were not disappointed. Some changes have been made since we were last there but only for the better.Staff were very friendly, the hotel and swimming pool areas were spotless, food was excellent and a great choice.
Would have no problem recommending this hotel.

“Winter sun - oh yes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

As recommended by previous reviewers we emailed ahead and secured a suite facing the road (a210). During the winter season this is definitely the best choice, sun all day. In summer it might be too hot.
The food is excellent anyone who says otherwise needs to look at themselves. There is plenty of variety that meets the needs of the wide range of European guests.
You can also use the a la carte restaurant which has a tasting menu that changes each night. However, be warned the food is very rich albeit very nice.
Try walking up the mountain opposite, it looks daunting but is actually quite easy. The views of the coast are amazing.
We went on the Teide by night excursion which I highly recommend. It is led by a belgian astronomer, Leon, and includes a visit to the cliffs at Los gigantes, a champagne sunset, the lava tunnels, a lovely meal at a hotel on the mountain and followed by an astronomy lesson in the starlight. Blankets are provided. Leon is an excellent guide.
We wished we had stayed for longer and recommend the marylanza for winter sun.

“Not sure why there's so many great reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Me and my boyfriend booked a week all inclusive at the marylanza after reading all the reviews, but we're a little disappointed, after arrive g at the hotel after our flight was delayed for 5 hours we were told that the hotel was overbooked and asked if we minded staying down the road for a few nights, not really what u want to hear on first arrival but at least they managed to get us a room. The hotel and rooms are very spacious and clean but we had a room overlooking the golf course which was FREEZING, no sun at all in the daytime, so I'd advise to request for a room roadside or pool. The pools were freezing as well, I saw maybe 5 people in them the whole stay, Bearing in mind it is February but it would be nice if the heated pool was actually heated..... The hotel is about 15 mins walk from everything which isn't too bad in the day but night time gets a bit chilly. The main reason I have given this 3 stars is the FOOD first day isn't bad but after that it was so boring! I don't understand why there isn't sandwiches, cold meat etc out at lunchtime? you can pay for toasties at the bar but no sandwiches for the all inclusive? Makes no sense, also the dinners werent good, the meat does not look appetising at all! My boyfriend and i were ill a few days so ended up going to a restaurant 4 times during our stay so the all inclusive isn't really worth it, I would say this is more a family orientated hotel as there's so many kids, not really good for couples looking for a quiet break which is what we expected.

These clients were offered the option to voluntarily stay in another hotel for a couple of nights obtaining different upgrades in return, but since they did not want to take advantage of them they just stayed in our hotel as planned, no big deal. We have a children's heated pool and two larger ones, the green one being also heated. But please take into consideration that the term "heated" differs if indoors or outdoors, the latter being 25ºC. Just to show you the difference I just had the pool attendant check the temperature in all 3 pools, and the result was: Green 25,3ºC; Blue 18.2ºC and Children's 25.1 ºC. Quite clarifying. We are taking note of the suggestions on the snacks, which we may consider when making all the changes planned at the Snack Bar, but am surprised about the bad impression on our dinners. We regret not having lived up to their expectations, but they seem to be different from what our hotel really has to offer.

“A great value hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We have just returned from a week all inclusive at the Marylanza and had a fab week. The hotel is lovely, our room was very big (1 bed apt) and was cleaned everyday with fresh towels.
The food was great, lots of variety to choose from. I think the point people make about it being samey is that they make the lunches so good that dinner can feel not as special. we had fresh salmon which was delicious and there was always fresh fish on the grill. They also offer steak, the quality is better at night than lunch. However all in all fab choice and really lovely food.
The pool bar food was not as good and as this is where we fed our daughter from late afternoon it was a struggle not to be giving her chips everyday.
The wine in the restaurant on the all inclusive was a bit raw but the wine from the bar more than adequate for all inclusive. Cava is also included which was a real bonus!
The staff were really friendly and we travelled with a 17 month old and they were lovely to her, helping us whereever possible.
The pool area was very clean, not loads of sunbeds and we did have to put towels out early - if you waited until after breakfast they had all gone. The pools were cold.......!! There is one "heated" pool, but treat heated with some caution - its just not baltic! Our toddler went in and loved it but after 10 mins lips were going blue!
Fab location, 10 mins from las americas and 15 from los cristianos beaches, but you are far enough away that it is nice and quiet at the hotel.
We would def return to this hotel, good value winter sun, 4 1/2 hours from home - can't knock it!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 114B over looking the pool. we got sun on our terrace from 3.30pm until 5.30 ish w...

“Family Week Away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My husband and 2 children, aged 3 and 6 have just returned from one week at this hotel. We had a great week staying at the Marylanza. It was definately better than what we expected.
Our room was G216 which was overlooking the road, yet we got the sun from morning until early evening which was great. The road was not that busy except for taxis and the noise was nothing to talk about.
The food was amazing and I had read previous reviews saying the food was very 'samey' however, there was always something different to chose from in terms of meat / fish dishes / soups. Guest helped themselves to soft drinks, water, Red or White Wine, Beer and a selection of fruit juices, including tea and coffee at lunch and dinner times.
The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and appeared happy to be at their work.
As mentioned in previous Reviews, the food at the Pool Bar was not great, although I understand that improvements are being made to this. I am a bit of a fussy eater but was happy to make a chip butty mid afternoon. The kids loved walking up and helping themselves to vanilla or chocolate ice cream. On our first visit to the Pool Bar we were shown the drinks menu and told which drinks were included within the All Inclusive package along with the Cocktail menu. There was even a cocktail for kids, which they loved.
The Hotel was spotlessly clean, including our room. The kids slept in the bedroom and we slept in the lounge, which meant we could sit on the balcony in the late evenings. The only downside was my huband slept on the sofa and I slept on a smaller type bed. It was fine for the week but it would be nice to see a converted bed sofa in the future.
Many comments have been made about the lack of sunbeds and I would agree and it is very frustrating to see towels put out early in the morning and no-one coming near them until late in the day. I did put our towels out on our way to breakfast but we were straight down to the pool after breakfast. Unfortunately this is a problem in many hotels, not just the Marylanza.
My 2 children were able to swim in the 'heated' pool but only for short periods of time as they did get cold, but it certainly didn't put them off from going in over and over again.I had packed a lot of swim wear for them to change into!
There was a kids club from 1pm to 1.45pm every day except Sunday and Tuesday, ran by Dana, the entertainment girl. She was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for her. It says its for 4 to 12 yr olds but was youngest, who is 3 was able to go and there was only ever 4 kids max each day. They had converted an unused squash court into a kids club and I was happy to leave them there with Dana. My kids especially loved the mini disco each evening from 8pm.We loved it too as it brought back memories from when we were kids with our parents. It would be easy to say it was pretty rubbish, but for a 3 and 6 year old, it was the highlight of their day and we just enjoyed it for what it was. As for the Adult entertainment, after the disco, again it was what you would expect from a typical spanish hotel. All the children seemed to enjoy it and we were happy to sit and watch!
It was a 5 min walk to local cafes. bars, shops etc. Las Americas was a 10 min walk and my 3 yr old walked it no problem. We did taxi back for 5 euros. We also walked into Los Christianos which was 15 mins walk. Head to the Mare Nostrum Resort and along that road there is lots of activity and plenty of bars, restaurants and lovely shops!!
Take a walk into the Spa and wellness centre, beside the baby pool. All the prices are in Reception. I used the hairdressers for a wash and blowdry before coming home. He was fantastic and it cost 20 euros.
All in all this was a lovely week and a lovely clean and relaxing hotel. I could not class this hotel as 3 star by any means and would definately say it is 4 star. There are some areas that need attention but it seems that Management have aknowledged this in previous reviews.
Enjoy!!

Room Tip: G216 overlooking the road was great room. Sun all day on balcony

I am very thankful for all the comments posted on Tripadvisor (even the poetic ones), but especially for this kind of very complete and constructive reviews, which are very helpful for both future customers and ourselves. As mentioned by these clients we do put our greatest attention to any areas which may be improved and it is very nice of them to let us know that their stay with us was enjoyable and relaxing.
