I have stayed at this hotel over the past 9 years and for the last (and final visit) in August 2011, I was really disappointed.
We are usually given a lovely room with a pool view. However, this year, we were put above the kitchens, facing a skip and a disused supermarket. The delivery lorries started arriving at 7.30am at which point, I had to pay to change to room, much to the annoyance of the Reception staff who are usually very approachable.
The hotel food is excellent but last year had a very large all inclusive deal, which resulted in drinks that were of a poor quality and a very repetative evening meal menu.
One of the nicest things about the hotel was the beautiful white lined pool has been replaced with dark blue tiles and made shallower and there is now 2 bridges over the water which looks silly. The pool is not a quiet place to relax around.
There also used to champagne on offer with breakfast on Sunday's. Returning clients used to get baskets of fruit and champagne in their rooms and complementary bathrobes.
Reception staff also used to ring to ask 'are you happy, is everything okay' but that seems to have stopped.
Last year I also noticed a few stag and hen parties had crept in on 3-4 day stays, which lowered the tone with big groups drinking on balconies.
The rooms, pool and lobby area are kept really clean. However, due to the volume of people staying at the hotel, the outside food area and bar are grubby and need a rerfurb.
The entertainment at the hotel is really good and there is some sort of activity going on from 11am to 11pm for different age groups.
This is a lively and very busy hotel and would suit families who want a busy holiday.
On the whole staff are very welcoming and approchable and chidlren are very welcome.
Overall, the majority of people enjoy their stay. However, i feel that it has lost that special touch.
