We booked our holiday about 4 months ago as separates, Ryan Air and hotel through travel republic. Its something we try and do every year. We booked for 18th of January 2012 for 1 week. About a month before travel Ryan Air decided they weren't flying on this date and it was either move to the 20th or get a refund (thanks ! haha).
We thought this was going to cause a lot of hassle but it didn't, we spoke to Travel Republic and it was done free of charge. Originally our booking was for the Iberostar Bouganville over the road, again a week before we were due to travel we were emailed by Travel Republic to say we had been moved to Las Dalias. On reflection now we would have picked the Las Dalias if we were to book again as it was excellent.
Arrived at the airport mid afternoon, decided to go for the taxi option which cost 23 Euros and got us there in about 15 mins or less from airport.
Check in was fine, it was quiet when we arrived, form to fill in, and offered a glass of wine or orange juice at check in, a nice touch. Staff were friendly throughout.
The room was nice, clean, good fresh bathroom. I have seen the other comments regarding the decor etc especially in the corridors. I can see what these people mean, but to be honest its just a colour, and my focus wasn't on the corridors leading to the rooms.
Our room was 913, which had a balcony overlooking the pool, there are various types of room in the hotel, some with long balconies, and also some that don't have a pool view, we didn't pay much for the holiday and so imagined we might get one of the lesser rooms, but without asking were offered a pool view, even although the hotel seemed pretty busy. Room in itself was fine, plenty of power sockets, and storage, even had enough coat hangars ! Also had extra blankets. Air conditioning system was the normal kind of thing, wasn't needed when we were there that much. Room had hair dryer in it, and shower gel, without other little bits and pieces such as shoe shine, comb, showercaps etc. Room also had tv, which had a range of channels in different languages, had 2 or English including Sky News, BBC1 and Channel 4 and 2 or 3 others.
Room was cleaned every day to a high standard, beds were made up, and changed 3 or 4 times during the week, towels also replaced every day.
Pool Area - was nice, fully cleaned every morning, you could sit and watch them doing the whole area. There was a rush for sun loungers at 8.45 every morning, was kind of funny to watch, never an over all shortage when we were there, just that a section of them were in the shade till mid morning.
Bar Areas - absolutely great service at the bars, no queues, some of the service was absolutely first class, and the only danger they may have is that there were one or two bar staff who were "ok" but when contrasted with the others it may be an important area that they want to focus on to keep their reputation. All Inclusive went from 10.30am till 00.30 which was great, huge range of drinks and a large number of branded spirits are included in the all inclusive at no extra charge, together with little 20cl glass bottles of branded mixers. Bar staff also happy to give out little bowls of nuts or olives with drinks, which was a nice touch, but slightly inconsistent depending on who was serving you. A big thanks to a male member of the bar staff, who always went the extra mile, Luis (?) although there were others who were giving out first class service. At night staff would come and take your order and bring you drinks. I would say that just leaving a small tip appreciating what they did was a good idea, and nothing short of what a lot of the guys deserved
Food again was of a high standard, all the normal things I have seen at other hotels, but some nice touches, champagne on Sunday breakfast, different themes some night e.g. Sushi one night, breakfast, freshly made omlettes no problems, even when restaurant was busy there were no issues , and assistance given in finding a table.
Snacks - could pick up things such as croissants with cold meat and cheese etc, afternoon, rolls and bread + cakes, at the poolside, there were freshly made burgers, hot dogs etc which was great if you fancied sitting at the pool side bar for a few drinks.
At the pool side there were some nice touches, such as the staff walking round offering ice cream, fruit etc
General - helpful reception staff, internet access available in the reception area at a charge
Lifts - just the very odd time you would be waiting a minute or so for one, a consequence to being on the 9th floor.
Nearby - over the road is a shopping centre, which would cover most things, from towels, to sun tan lotion, in the basement of the shopping centre is a supermarket, so don't worry about having everything. We went round about and further a field, near the hotel were some nice little pubs like The Star Bar and Walli Hai, which made a great little change, and also nearby some nice Italian and Fish restaurants with Al a Carte and 2 course for 10 Euro deals in nice surroundings. We even went for a little bit of home at Scotch Corner, a little pub 50 metres away, where you can get a nice steak pie, or roll and sausage !
Overall - We both agreed it was a fantastic holiday at this price, and would be happy to go back and have already praised it to others
Room Tip: We had room 913 which was on the top floor facing the pool
