First room allocated was not up to even one star, cant believe that they expected anyone to stay there, when we challenged this we were offered a exchange but two days later as the hotel was full ! taking to people this was a ploy that is used on a regular basis, so if you go head for above floor 4 and get a pool view if poss.
The morning farce in the race for sunbeds was a joke ! ( this is nothing to do with the hotel but had to mention it as I am ranting ) the people doing this all being aged between 65 to 80 and all were Brits, I was ashamed, if any of you are reading this you know who you are and you are all pathetic.
The hotel is to far out, it is inbetween two brothels, the front road is the area pick up point for prostitutes.( the hotel is in the red light area of south tenerife )
if you mention the hotel to any locals they all seem to know this so why this has never appeared on trip advisor I dont know. My wife actually had this mentioned to her on the plane out by a elderly couple, they also recomended the Chinese next door as well.
All that aside the food wasnt to bad and the staff were pleasent, Will I return mmmm let me think about that ! Not a chance.

Thank you very much for giving us feedback on your stay at Hotel Catalonia Oro negro. Your comments are important for us to improve our service.
I deeply regret that your experience in the first room was not up to the excellent standards you expect, but please let me inform you that all our rooms are standard and inspected by our internal quality department and also by our main Tour Operators, being perfectly within the parameters as a rooms of 3 stars hotel.
We also consider the hotel in a privileged area located in one of the areas of Playa de las Américas and only a few minutes walk from the leisure centre . It is situated only 800 m from the beach and opposite a relaxing golf course.
About the sunbeds, be sure that From this moment, we will take action to reassure all our clients.
I would like to insist that the hotel has enough sunbeds for all who need
