we came here on a stag do and were initially impressed by the hotel. on the first night we made a bit of noise and apologised and said it wouldnt happen again as we had more sensible activities planned for the rest of our stay

the security guard, who is vile, demanded 100 euros each off of us, locked us out of our room threatened us with police and said if we dont have the money in 20 minutes our stuffs going in the street.

i would avoid this hotel at all costs especially seeing as the h10 hotels are similarly priced and genuinely fantastic.

the guards here were something else, refused to take group picures for us, constanly frowned, charged us to let one of us in when he left the room key inside.

whilst i was there myself and another guest who was not with us had money stolen from our apartments and when we asked to see the cctv, we were point blank refused.

i would also not recommend bringing children as the entire perimeter is surrounded by prostitutes. literally.

Stayed in the Columbus from the 18th may for 4 nights with 12 lads on a stag doo in self catering on the 2nd floor. We had 4 rooms between us and rooms need updating as they are quite old fashioned but were cleaned every day.

It took at least an hour for us to be booked in as the receptionist did not speak English.

One of the managers (bald Spanish overweight one with a moustache) was Very rude and arrogant and charged one of our rooms 100 euros for playing music a little too loud.

The pool was absolutely freezing and could only stay in for 2 minutes before hyperthermia.

We paid 25 euros for the use of a safe and was told we would receive 10 euros back when we returned the key which we did not recieve.

I personally believe the managers will try to con you and try to get as much money out of you as they can.

Apart from the above the hotel is in a good location but be carefull as one of our friends was mugged by 4 lads after they watched him take 200 euros out of a cash machine and another friend had his mobile phone stolen! So many people were mugged there so be carefull and stay in groups.

Would I stay here again? Hell no!

Stayed early May 2012 in room 226. All the staff we talked to we're very friendly. We had breakfast in two places (main restaurants & by the pool) both were very good. Pool area was clean and tidy. The location was ideal as we were golfing at Americas Golf and after golf we were just 5 minutes walk down the hill to the bars. Our room was dated and could do with modernising. My only gripe about the hotel was the number of cockroaches in our room. Several perished, but many were just too quick and live for another day. Don't think many of the other rooms had them and maybe we were just unlucky. Did it spoil the holiday (no) and would I stay in the hotel again (yes).

Just returned from a week at the Columbus. I can not fault the check in, it only took a couple of minutes, the apartment could do with being modernised but it was ok. The cleaners came in everyday and left fresh towels, our personal belongings were never touched and we left money and other valuables around. The pool was cold but we were pleased about that as the weather was so hot it was lovely to get into the pool to cool off. We can not comment on the food as we were self catering but no one seemed to have a problem with it.
