We have stayed here before it's re furbishment, and stayed in the Cleopatra in 2009 and 2011.
We liked the Sir Antony before re furb and it's so much better now. Modern rooms lovely bathrooms with walk in shower huge comfy bed and we like the ground floor pool access room having previously had a top floor room. Top floor rooms have super sea views ground floor , yes you can see the sea, through and over the wall and hedge that gives the hotel it's privacy.
We like it here for it's quietness, it's friendliness, position, so close to beach shops and a huge range of restaurants, plus a relaxed breakfast, no buffet, where you can order and have cooked just what you fancy. We haven,t yet tried the restaurant for evening meal so watch for my comments later.
We visited the Sir Anthony in September 2011, as a "recommendation" from Trip Advisor - given it was the number 1 hotel in Tenerife.
The Sir Anthony was everything we could have hoped for... It wasn't near to the rowdy-ness of Playa de las Americas, but was close enough to visit!!! Plenty of good restaurants and bars nearby!
The hotel was relaxing, peaceful and we would not hesitate to come back - we had pool access rooms which was perfect - get out of bed, and into the pool :D As one should on holiday! The pool was pretty much ours because it was so quiet, and we were able to access the other hotels (cleopatra & mediteranean) for their less relaxing pools - the boyfriend was happy, along with the other MEN, to jump around on the giant inflatable in the Med, and then pop back to the Sir Anthony to relax!! The Pool side food was reasonably priced, more so than cafes out of the hotel...
Excellent service - happy staff, high standard room, room service twice a day - carpets by the side of the bed so our tootsies don't get cold getting into bed!!!
Thanks Sir Anthony !
P.s. We loved the Ice machine, only comment my boyfriend could make was that he didn't think there was much choice on the breakfast menu. However, I was satisfied every day :)
I've been there at the end of April 2011. THe weather was perfect, a bit cold during night, need to wear warm jacket. This is exceptional hotel which offers you chill and relax for the entire stay. We first booked a hotel which is attached to Sir Anthony but when we came there we realised that it's too crowdy and doesn't look like 4star hotel, so we paid extra and were transferred to Sir Anthony. This is VERY small hotel, but very cosy. I believe that all rooms are looking over the pool and higher floors would also enjoy the sea view. Beautiful and big rooms with extra big beds. We stayed at the first floor so we had stairs from our terrace straight to the pool. The place is very quiet, there are no children and I believe families with small children are not allowed. Not a single shout, total relax on green grass around pool. Across the road is municipal beach which is full of people. The ocean was too cold as well, so we had to stay near the pool all the time. Breakfasts are perfect. However, we had half board and had to eat at the only hotel's restaurant which was pain in fact. The food was so unusual that most of things I couldn't eat because I'm not used to unusual chef's inspirations. A lot desserts included rose water which tasted like my prefume. Main courses were weird as well. There were magnifiscent live piano sessions every evening near reception. The hotel is 2 min from high street with bars and shops.
We have spent our third visit at the sir anthony. This hotel is supurb. Our room was beautiful and had direct access to the pool. We chose this time not to stay on the third floor with the private pool as we both miss the atmosphere around the pool area. We decided to stay half board and were never disappointed with each of our meals. Only one thing with the restaurant, 6 out of the 7 nights we dined, we were the only one's in there! although the hotel was very quiet at this time of year, we were both incredibly surprised at how quiet the restaurant was.
I dont really have any complaints about our stay at all but do have to mention the pool area. On more than one occasion during our holiday, we came out to the pool at around 9am to find the previous days' crockery, ashtrays and glasses still on the tables. This would be the only thing that i would want the staff to be aware of as having to clear away somebody elses dishes is not exactly what i would expect to do on holiday. nevertheless, we will be returning again in early 2012.
