We stayed at La Siesta for one week 29th Jan to 4th Feb 2012 and all I can say that some of the reviews on this site are rather unfair so say the least. We were travelling with our elderly mum and as we were on a very early flight only one room was available on our arrival. Without us even asking, the lady on reception noted that the rooms we had been allocated were not together, she informed us that she could move our mum the next day and to our delight she had been moved two doors down and also upgraded, without charge to a lovely superior room. There are some comments on here saying the reception staff are rude, we couldnt disagree more, they were very polite, friendly and super helpful...Thank You :-)
We were in rooms 29 and 27 on the ground floor, very spacious, larger than a lot of the other hotels in the area, with plenty of wardrobe space. They have a lovely patio area and your own sunbeds so you can sunbathe in private should you want to get a way from the crowd for a while. They were super quiet, we had no problems whatsoever with outside noice of any kind. The rooms and hotel are super clean throughout, it has a nice relaxed atmosphere and is ideally located, just far away from the hustle and bustle, but just a short walk away from all the bars and entertainment.
The dining room staff are very efficient, yes sometimes at peak evening dining times you do have to wait a short time to be seated, but your table is layed straight away so we didnt find this too much of a problem. We found breakfast to be lovely, plenty of choice, again when it got busy occasionally you had to wait for cereal bowls, but throughout the week of our stay this only happened once. The food of an evening was plentiful and always replenished, we would say however that we have had better evening fayre in other hotels in the area, it didnt exactly blow us away, but it was pleasant and varied and we certainly didnt feel the need to eat out at any time, and we certainly didnt find it cold as some reviewers have observed. One thing we really liked about the dining room is that the tables are well spaced out, so you dont feel that the person on the next table is sitting on your knee listening to your conversation, as we have found in other hotels.
The pool area had a nice relaxed atmosphere, we found it to be clean and well kept. The sunbeds are not layed out of a morning, you have to get your own, but if you need assistance the lifeguard will help you out and get your beds for you, the only negative we would say here is, quite a few of the beds had seen better days and were a bit uncomfy but there were plenty available and we soon swapped for a better one. The animation team were great fun encouraging people to take part in various activites but without being too pushy. The pool bar/restaurant was good, efficient service, nice snacks / meals, particularly the salads which were huge, price-wise comparable with other hotels in the area.
To sum up, this is our second stay at this lovely hotel and certainly wont be our last, we feel that some of the reviews on here are a bit unfair, you get what you pay for and this hotel we found to be very reasonably priced and value for money.
Room Tip: Some of the ground floor rooms have their own large patio areas with private sunbeds for sunbathing...
