“Great Location, with Fantastic All Inclusive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed at the Gran Oasis with my fiance' November last year and it was so much more than we expected!!! We were very wary after reading previous reviews that some aspects of this holiday may not be to the standard we were used to, but boy were we wrong!
Despite comments about there being a lot of steps to climb to get around, there were ramps leading to everywhere around the resort, u just have to walk around to get to them. The staff were absolutely lovely, and the giant who works behind the pool bar has a special gift for remembering your drink and having it ready before you've even asked!
The apartments are perfect, and sitting on the upstairs balcony watching the sun go down over the sea was magical.
It's in a great location, only 5 minutes away from Siam Park which is a must-go while you are here! The hotel even does a free shuttle service to the park. There is a small market held once a week which is also fantastic. They do everything you can think of and for very small prices!
It is a beautiful location, and the pool is fabulous!
The only negative thing I can think to say is the rooms dont have air conditioning. It didnt affect our stay as the rooms have doors you can open and a ceiling fan but it may affect a more sensitive sleepers night.
The all inclusive option was fantastic! Not only do you get an all you can eat style breakfast, lunch and dinner, but between these they serve hot dogs and toasted sanwiches by the pool bar! The food was varied, hot and fresh! Try the omelettes for breakfast, they make them for you while you watch and they are amazing!
I really would recommend this to anyone who is thinking of going. Ignore the comments moaning about the steps, we stayed at the top of the resort and it didnt take away from the experience at all!

“A great hotel with an excellent all inclusive service.”

We went here last September for a girls holiday and we had a fantastic time. When we arived we were greated with the "Giant Monkeys in their sombrero's playing us a tune on their insturment - such fun!". The reception staff were more than helpful and we asked about the all inclusive option - which was more than a bargain. All staff in the complex were very helpful and the pool area (we opted for the lower pool as there were less families) was exceptional. Plenty of beds and a clean area and pool. The food was really nice and I have stayed in some awfull all inclusives. There is a small choice but what you get is very good and fresh. The location is somewhat away from the main resort but a taxi is quite cheap. The rooms we had were at the top and yes a lot of steps - but it keeps you fit and there are ramps for those who do not want to take the stairs. The rooms were very spacious and clean with a well equipped kitchen. We had a roof top sun deck as well as a lovely spacious balcony. The views from the roof top and balcony were exceptional - all in all I would definatley reccomend this hotel.

Room Tip: depends on what you want but the top rooms with the roof top are very good if you dont mind the clim...

“3 star entertainment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

The hotel complex is quite small, The cleanliness was A* and there were enough sunloungers for everyone. Our suite was the best i've seen. This was 2 story, bedroom with terrace and sunloungers off this, double wardrobes. Bathroom with powerful shower, lounge with terrace off of this with table and chairs and a lovely view of a volcano and the sea. The sun was on this balcony from 8-6 evryday. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. The maids came around everymorning bar wednesday and sunday (but i managed to swap our bathroom towels with someone cleaning a room) .We spent most evenings on our balcony getting takeaway drinks and playing cards. You can upgrade to a rooftop suite for 15-25 euro's per day. I would consider this instead of sunbathing by the pool. You have to rent a TV remote control for them to work 15euro a week deposit and pay 21euro charge for bbc and sky channels. You have to leave a deposit of 20euro each for beach towels and safe's are 20euro's a week and 20euro deposit, these are behind reception not in your room!! I used my case with a padlock instead as it was a bit of a trek. They had a spa under the kids pool offering massage and manicure's and pedicures. They had a large games arcade with internet also. There is a small shop selling the essentials open from 8-1 4-7 everyday or there is a large spa approx 20 mins walk also. there is a baby splash pool and a heated kids pool and a non heated adult pool which are all clean. The adult pool is freezing cold. The restaurant is open 7-10 then 1-3 then 6-9 for meals which were all very nice especially the grill which served fresh meat everyday. The bars are open from 11-11 for tea, coffee, hot chocolate, beer on tap, water, soft drinks and spirts. You were allowed to order 4 drinks at a time as a couple which saved waiting at the bar as the plastic cups were small. You can have a small pot of icecream and hotdogs, cheese and ham sandwiches and pastry's were help yourself most of the day. Staff cam around the pool side once a day with a tray of fresh fruit which was a nice touch. The staff were all lovely and happy apart from 1 waitress and one of the entertainment girls who walked around with her nose in the air thinking she was wonderful! The location is a walk from the beach and town but there is a free bus. We enjoyed going for walks everyday, we even walked around an old vulcano which is opposite the complex. Tenerife in last january is warm but cloudy most of the time we were there and a short rainfall. It felt like our summertime. The evening entertainment is outside in the bar area on a small stage. We couldn't get seats most nights as we finished dinner at 8.30pm. Every night they bring in an act. We saw an abba tribute, motown, parrot show and flamenco dancing. There was a kids disco before this and a quiz or bingo also. The entertainment ran from 8pm til 10pm, they played music through speakers the rest of the time (quite repetative) This resort is aimed for families. We were the only young couple there without kids. I would say our best day there for entertainment was monday. There was live music by the pool side for an hour during the day. We also got offered a free scuba dive lesson on this day too.
I would recommend this holiday to families not couples and I would stay here again when we have kids. This resort is spread out low level so wheelchair and push chairs may find it harder going than a resort with a lift. I would rate this hotel 3 star due to the evening entertainment. We paid £900 all inclusive for a week for both of us which was worth it.

“A friendly hotel, nice location and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We travelled with our 2 year old Daughter on an all inclusive week. Upon arrival, the staff were quick, friendly and offered to "babyproof" the apartment straight away. We were helped to our room and given the necessary resort map to find our way around. Our room was at the bottom end of the complex meaning far less stairs which was great. The rooms were spacious and we added the extra bed into our room with plenty of space to spare. The upstairs had a small lounge/kitchen area and downstairs had the bathroom and bedroom. The stairs between are quite tight but you just take your time with them. The stairgate was essential for our Daughter. The cleanliness was excellent throughout the room and entire hotel. The location was up on the hillside but a free bus runs several times a day into the resort centre. Failing that, a taxi was always outside and for approx Euro 5 they would take you into town. Be warned, do not ask the taxi driver for the "beach or harbour" as they add almost Euro 2 onto the bill! Ask for shopping centre or Monkey Bar and walk in yourself. The pools in the hotel varied from very cold (large pool) to pleasant (baby pool) but all were clean and plenty of sunbeds were available. The childrens area was under a small canopy with tables/chairs and a small amount of "soft play" items. There was generally some activity going on and the entertainment crew were very nice and enthusiastic. Obviously, our Daughter is only 2 so had limited interaction but the older kids seemed to enjoy the tasks/games set. The evening entertainment was very basic with a small childrens disco followed by a game and then the official band/show. The only problem was that it is all based outside with a very small dance area. Many of the kids used the stage to play/dance but it was a straight drop to the floor on all sides and microphone wires, etc were trailing over the stage too - you have to keep a very careful watch. The food was 4 star quality with a basic selection of salads, fruit and desserts each evening. There was a "theme" most evenings and we all managed to eat well. The lunch was similar with fresh pizzas most days. The breakfast was the poorest meal (I have no idea what constitutes bacon in Tenerife?!) but fresh omlettes were made to order if you wanted them. All in all a very good holiday in a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: If you have toddlers, make sure you ask for stair gates as the stairs can be very tricky.
