“Winter sun at Parque Santiago III”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We had a really enjoyable stay at Parque Santiago III, a package trip with Jet2 flying from Glasgow. We had previously had a holiday at these apts. and knew what to expect. The apartment was very clean, reasonably equipped (although we mostly ate out), and housekeeping kept it clean and tidy. The only drawback this time was we were in an apartment facing the main road which could be a bit noisy, however we always slept well.
Used the pool area a few timeswhich was very good except for the selfish people who reserve sunbeds by placing towels on them and are not there half the time. A short walk to the beach and this was preferable. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area which more than catered to our needs. Check in and check out were both very easy and quick.

Room Tip: If you can get a room away from main street.

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

As heading says, great location, however this was the only plus point. Initially put in a low room with no balcony room/cave under the main building which was dark, dirty, and smelling of dampness. Did not even open case, it was back to reception for what we requested, High floor with balcony!. They changed the room without incident, (and during our stay there, we noted on 4 other occasions of people at reception changing the room they had been given. Just wondered if it was the 'cave'). Moved to another block and Stayed in room which faced out to the main street, No sun on these balconies so actually cold night and early morning. On-going building repairs in block so hammering and banging intermittently, noisy out the front street with karaoke singers and traffic. Taxi rank right across the street, handy for a taxi but these guys don't give a rats behind about tooting their horns day and night, and Sky signal poor on T.V. Showers not great, but the water was always hot. Despite the fact the pool area is massive and no problems getting sun beds, you will still get the usual muppets running down with their towels. Not Germans incidently!. On the whole, perfect location, but rooms getting tired now and could do with a lick of paint and some grout in the toilets. Also no elevators in these blocks, so if you are on top floor be prepaired to humpyour cases up/down flights of stairs.

Room Tip: If you have problems with stairs, get a room on street level. No lifts!

“Good holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

This Paque Satiago 111 was in a good location. It was perfect for Playa and Los Christianos only 5 minutes walk from a great beach. Our room 4067 was cleaned daily. The beds were comfortable. There was a small but welcome pack of water, fruit, and wine. room 4067 did not have a good view. We Booked it through Thomsons we would go back but insist on a decent view. The Sky TV had a very poor signal even BBC. It could do with softer chairs

Room Tip: Insist on a pool or seaview

“great location..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Hi just arrived back from p.s.3 this afternoon. The location of the apartments is excellent, you have on your front door the location of the main area with the Safari shopping center 2 mins away with all the nice shops and restaurants, and out your back door the beach and the promanade walk that if you take the right will bring you in about 10mins to Los Cristianos and to the left up to Playa de Las Americas and San Eugeno area and beyond..

APARTMENTS:We stayed in studio 3130 which was spotlessy cleaned every day, fresh towels and bed linen. Our balcony faced on to the main road and although we love to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by with a glass of vino we found it to be very cold as the sun doesnt shine on it at any time of day,so it can be very chilli but we wrapped up in our warm pjs and blankets and still "people watched" in the evening after dinner. There is a down side to staying in these studios if you like your sleep be prepared to not sleep until after 12am as you will hear the entertainment guy across the road singing his hearth out with Neill Diamond, Elvis and the usual karaoke type sing along tracks! Not really a problem for us as we dont go to sleep that early but we do like our late sleep in! well until around 9ish anyway..FORGET IT! be prepared for your 7am wake up call from the dustbin men emptying the bins with a lot of clatter and ding, its then u realise you shouldnt of had that last glass of vino!
POOL AREA: Huge pool area with no problem getting a sun bed.The main salt water pool was freezing and it was such a shame not to see anybody swimming in it just the usual die hards that would come out blue! There is a shopping center under the complex so you will see a lot of people that is not from the hotel passing through the main pool area.
All in all had a pleasent enough stay to get away for a winter break.Would we goback? most likely for the location but would defiantly request a pool facing apartment for that little bit of quite and those lazy lie in mornings that we all deserve..If you do book it you will enjoy it and have fun.wish i was there now..(",)

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing rooms not the ones that face te main road..

“Noisy but nice -- take care who you book with”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

These are very nice, spacious apartments situated close to the sea and shopping centres with two good sized swimming pool. They are well equipped and kept scrupulously clean with an excellent maid service. Most of the apartments have wonderful balconies overlooking the pool and out to sea.

However, if you are travelling from Britain do be careful who you book with. Several holiday companies offer these apartments and you can also book directly with the complex.

Two years ago we had a lovely stay in these apartments and were full of praise for them. However, on our latest visit we were very disappointed.

We stayed for a week this January having booked with Thomas Cook six months in advance to get the best price and the best apartments. We paid extra to get a 1 bedroom apartment.
We were placed in one of the relatively small number of the apartments which face north and overlook the shops and clubs. It means that in the winter the sun never reaches the balconies and the apartments can be very cold ...particularly when it is windy.

At night we could hear the noise from several of the bars below which was ear splitting. If you want to hear Elton John, Tom Jones and Elvis blaring out at full volume from three different locations all at the same time until nearly midnight these are the ideal apartments.

You might also be lucky enough to be situated above one of the service bays so after a late and very noisy “musical” night you will be awoken at first light by the arrival of the refuse trucks reversing backwards and forwards as they empty the bins. During our stay there was the additional early morning noise… which lasted most of the day …from cheery workmen drilling up the concrete on the ground floor of the apartment block.

The only access to these apartments is by very steep steps. This makes access challenging for the elderly, for people with health problems and for those with young children and buggies. There are lifts in other parts of the complex.

On several occasions we heard British visitors pleading with the receptionist to be moved to apartments overlooking the swimming pool and away from the street. They were given the usual brush off by being told the complex was full. If you understand Spanish don’t let them know beforehand so you can hear what they are saying about your booking and your tour operator!

We booked online with Thomas Cook and encountered the same problems other contributors to Tripadvisor have made complaints about. We paid extra for a one bedroom apartment but when we arrived were placed in a one room North facing studio instead.

Our protests were ignored by the Thomas Cook representatives on the island who insisted we were mistaken. We are experienced travellers who frequently use the internet to book our holiday destinations. We were not mistaken about our booking and I suspect nor were others who have suffered the same fate.

At the time of writing the information promising a one bedroom apartment at this complex is still active on the Thomas Cook web site. So be warned before you click and pay.

On a final note prices in the supermarket opposite are about a third more than several other stores only a few hundred yards away. It is OK to pick up water and perhaps a morning loaf of bread but why pay a lot more when you don’t need to? The security guard will not allow you to take bags, including women’s handbags, into the shop with you….think carefully before risking leaving them in the lockers provided by the shop. Who else has keys to these lockers while you are away shopping?

Also be careful when dealing with the taxi drivers. When handing them a 20 euro note make sure they don’t use a well rehearsed sleight of hand trick to substitute it for a similar looking 5 euro note…..and then claim you owe them more money. The “cheepy, cheepy,” sunglass and watch salesmen on the pavements are also dab hands at playing this game along with handbag dipping and pocket picking.

Tenerife is a great all the year round holiday destination……..but from the initial booking through to your final flight home you need to be on your guard the whole time to ensure it doesn’t become Tenegrief.

Who you book with can make a very big difference to the enjoyment of your holiday. So if you book it, don’t ...... …. it !!!!
