We very much enjoyed our stay at Le Mont Thabor whilst skiing for a week booked through RocketSki.

Our room was of a good size, with a huge double bed, and plenty of wardrobe space. Heating was very effective and there was always plenty of hot water. There was a DVD player in our room, which would have been nice to use if we'd brought any DVD's with us!

We loved enjoying the steam room and sauna after a day's skiing, but found the jacuzzi a little disappointing (it could have been warmer).

At the hotel we had free use of a PC with Internet which was useful to check weather reports etc..

We were staying at Le Mont Thabor half board, and the food in the adjoining restaurant was fantastic, and something I looked forward to at the end of each day. Breakfast was served in the reception area of the hotel - mainly cereal, pastries, yoghurt, cold meat and cheese.

Whilst at least a 5 minute walk to the nearest ski lift, and about 10 to where the ESF hold ski school, this did not detract from our stay, and if we return to Serre Chevalier we would definately book this hotel again.

I'm writing this, not because the hotel was awful, but just because it's nowhere near as good as many websites make it out to be.

As the hotel is new, the room was very nice, much better than many French ski resort 3* rooms. The bed was great, the decor very nice and the bathroom very good.

Breakfast was very average and very disappointing. It was taken in the hotel foyer and there was not much to choose from. The restuarant is advertised as having 'excellent cuisine' and much is made of its reputation. However....you wont experience any of this if you stay half board! The food you are served is ok. We've had much better food at other 3* hotels.

We like a nice cold beer after a hard day on the slopes, but contrary to many websites advertising this hotel....there is no bar!!! The nightclub and the bar are closed.

All in all, it was a bit disappointing, and didn't live up to the hype.

Well, what a tiny cramped room, my how the brochure pictures are obscure, wow how unhelpful and unfriendly is the lady that runs the hotel.

The room allocated was not big enough to swing a cat in, you couldn't get your bags in and if you wanted breakfast in your room it was either in bed or in the bathroom - and you had to go and fetch it. Nice decor though.

I booked a luxury treat for a 40th birthday and boy was it memorable for all the wrong reasons. Next to the lift shaft and stairwell, on a main road. Breakfast was served through a 'canteen style' hatch in the reception and to eat it you had to sit in the foyer. How you can get it so wrong from such a beautiful brochure website!

We lasted two days as we managed to get upgraded to a luxury apartment at the top of the hotel with a jacuzzi bath, but we were much happier and more welcome when we moved to the hotel Christiana across the road even if was a traditional French hotel and not the lux hotel break we had been dreaming of.

When we booked with RocketSki we were given the choice of hotel and chose this hotel following a check on the reviews and the hotel website. It's been a while since we booked a package ski trip and were glad we chose this french-run hotel instead of the usual English-run package hotels.

The rooms are larger than my previous french trip so we were both able to open our ski bags and fill the wardrobe up. The bathroom was beautifully completed and they had the usual shampoos, shower gels etc.

The beds can be mixed - we requested double and it was a twin but you can move the side tables around. The following day when we came back from the slopes they'd put on a double mattress and bedding to complete the job. Our room had access to the balcony that ran around the hotel and was furthest from the nightclub - I'm a light sleeper but still didn't hear any noise. We were in room 106, so rooms 206 etc would be fine too.

There is a mini-bar in the room that is re-stocked daily and quite cheap. Also a safe.

The breakfast is cold with fruit juice, eggs, cheese, ham, coffee tea, cereals, pastries, yoghurt and sometimes cold toast..and you eat in the reception which is great for people watching.

The ski room isn't dry enough to put your boots in - you need to take your linings our and put them in your room.

The ladies in the reception can speak English (we managed some pigeon French back...) and will handle any problems you have. Two people in our group came down with the flu and the receptionist helped them with a wee kettle for their lemsips and pastries for their lunches.

Internet access is free - just watch the keyboard - always catches me out.

The restaurant attached to the hotel is brilliant value. We had half board and our 3-course daily meals were too much to eat mostly. I recommend their double-chocolate mousse. We also ate from the a-la-carte menu at extra cost which was great food.

Close proximity to a few chair lifts - can't remember the names of them but I think it was the Frejus and Casse de Boeuf gondola/chairlift that was closest. Stop in at Le Frog if you fancy a Scottish/French pub. It has seats overlooking the slopes - great for sunny lunches.

I recommend this hotel - great job, bigger than your average French place in a ski village, close to the pharmacy, cafes and village-bars and intersport.
