“A lovely hotel with friendly staff and luxurious rooms (good location too)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Friendly and helpful staff (some do not speak any/much English)
Excellent breakfast
Chic appearance
Elevator
Located next to Tres Cantos station and bus stops (buses to Plaza Castilla in Madrid and also Soto de Vinuelas), supermarket and other shops/cafes
Large rooms with modern furniture, big comfortable beds, safe boxes, fridges and well appointed bathrooms
Well priced especially at weekends

I would strongly recommend this hotel where I have stayed on several occasions in 2011 and 2012.

Room Tip: All of the rooms I have stayed in are excellent, a good size with modern, clean furniture. I think...

“A friendly, luxurious hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

This is an excellent hotel. The building and rooms are modern, bright and clean. It's situated right next to the Renfe station (direct line into central Madrid) and bus stops (direct service to central Madrid), within easy walking of the PTM (Madrid technology park). Next to the hotel there is also a supermarket, cafes and restaurants, a fitness centre, pharmacy and beautiful public gardens. However, despite this location, the room was large, full of light and very quiet.

Our booking was handled very efficiently and we thought that the price for the room, including breakfast, was very reasonable.

We were made to feel really welcome upon arrival and our room was ready for occupancy at 11am.

All of the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. However many of them do not speak English, for example in the restaurant. When I contacted the hotel via e-mail to book a room, all of the receptionists with whom I communicated were fluent in English.

The room was large, totally clean and very comfortable. The bed was big and the shower worked really well. There was also a fridge, a safe, a bidet, a two person sofa, a chair and desk, bedside tables, plenty of mirrors, a wardrobe and drawers and different lighting options. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day and plenty of toiletries were provided.

The television did not work particularly well, the picture was always slightly unclear and all channels offered were in Spanish (some international programmes on these channels can be converted to their original language) and often the screen froze or ceased working in the middle of programmes. This was no problem for us, but if you are a couch potato you may need to speak to the hotel staff to ensure that the TV works properly.

The breakfast at this hotel is completely amazing. Served from 7.30am until 11am so perfect for early business types and also party animals who like to lie in late! The breakfast room is airy and relaxing with very efficient service. A wide range of foods is available including fresh fruit salad and juices, traditional Spanish omelette, hot chocolate, coffee and lots of different breads and pastries, plus hot chorizo, bacon and scrambled eggs. Everything on offer is totally delicious.

One night we dined at the hotel. The food and wine was great and the service was friendly and efficient, although we were lucky that we could speak Spanish as the lady in the restaurant did not understand any English. However we were the only diners in the whole place so it was extremely quiet and lacking in atmosphere. It would be great if the hotel could encourage more guests to dine in the hotel or attract diners from outside the hotel somehow. Alternatively, if there is only a very small number of guests dining, the restaurant staff could arrange a more intimate seating for them so that they don't have to sit alone in the middle of a big empty room.

Also the hotel bar closed at 10.45pm which we felt was quite early when one night we wanted to have a drink at 11pm.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. When there is no traffic, a taxi from Barajas airport takes only about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately EUR 55.00 (if booked in advance).

“Great hotel, lousy internet.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

The hotel is very good, great staff, great location, acceptable restaurant, but the main problem is the Internet that works really bad. Is too slow and is not reliable at all.

“This is a very good hotel if you need to go to Tres Cantos for Business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

I needed to stay in Tres Cantos because it is close to the company I needed to visit. The hotel is next to the railway station. From there you can easily reach the Center of Madrid if you want to have dinner downtown after work. The hotel is very modern and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really excellent. It is a typical hotel for a business trip. I would not recommend it for a city trip to Madrid as Tres Cantos is too far away from the City.

“Reasonable Business Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2008

I stayed at Hotel Quo Fierro for 10 nights recently on a business trip to Tres Cantos, Madrid. I had previously stayed in central Madrid for an earlier business trip and found getting a taxi to the office every day such a trial (the majority of taxi drivers in Madrid are not remotely interested in taking you out to Tres Cantos - no more than 25 minutes away - 4 taxis on a single morning refused to take me!) that for my return visit I chose to stay in Tres Cantos instead and walk to work.
This is a modern hotel situated beside the train station in Tres Cantos and there are very regular trains into the main stations in Madrid - Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios and Atocha. The hotel is also walking distance to the Technology Park in Tres Cantos so from this point of view was very convenient for my needs.
The hotel is clean, reception desk is helpful and friendly with English spoken for non-Spanish speakers, the rooms are sparse but adequate, the bathrooms are nicely equipped with great, powerful showers which do seem hard to find in European hotels and there is a cafeteria/restaurant downstairs where a good buffet breakfast is served (14 euros if not included in the room rate) and you can get dinner most evenings except weekends - however you may be the only diner some evenings no matter how late you leave it before venturing down to eat!
And I guess this is my only hesitation in recommending the hotel - it is so very quiet that sometimes you imagine you must be the only guest!! Where is everyone in the evenings? Why no buzzy atmosphere? Could it be the lack of a real bar other than a counter in the restaurant? Could it be that the centre of Madrid is only 25 minutes away by train? I don't know but if you're a solo traveller you may feel just a little too conspicuous here and the evenings may feel just a little too long and lonely.
Bring lots of English DVDs for your laptop and good books and you may be ok but expect to hear the clink clink of your cutlery on your dinner plate in the evening!! If you don't mind this then I'm sure you will be happy staying here.
A small final note about the hotel's website - I found two different sites offering two different sets of information about availability - one said there were no rooms available on some of my required dates and the other said there was availability. I booked on line and then emailed reception directly to check that my reservation was definitely confirmed. Then I booked a second room on line for a relative who was coming to spend the weekend with me and they had no record of the booking even though I had had the emailed confirmation. Luckily they had rooms as my relative was in reception when they told us they didn't know about the booking! Guess they need to check out the problems with their online booking system.
