“Don't judge it only for external appearances”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

This Quality Inn is much better once you are in than what it looks at first sight. The building itself is actually quite old and green doors in outside corridors at not appealing at all. Nevertheless, once in the premises we found a deeply renovated room, wall paint and carpet included. Only bedding and pillows should be replaced soon as I felt they were at the end of their service life.

Outdoors, the hotel has a huge kidney-shaped pool and a second one for kids. Breakfast is served in a large Ballroom and rounds up continental breakfast with sausage patties.

Only real negative was window insulation as high noise from the freeway could be heard once inside the room.

“ants and bad internet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2010

had to change rooms. there were dead ants in the tub, and when I turned on the water to wash them away all the sudden room was crawling with them. My business uses this as a hotel, and the ants are a recurring problem. The internet is also terrible.

staff is nice, and continental breakfast is good.

“not terrible, but not pleasant either”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2009

A telling sign of a business not-so-well ran: this motel is still missing a sign, after it has been broken by hurricane Ike four months ago. The place is hard to see at night even though it is right next to the highway.

The receptionist was very nice even though we arrived very late, the motel has a nice lobby, we got a spacious room with a working TV and remote.

However, the room had a smell to it, and the ancient A/C unit was very noisy. The bathroom was less than clean, and the water not quite hot. The advertised wi-fi was not working.

Overall, pretty sad place.

  • Liked — cheap, close to the highway
  • Disliked — smell in the room, no internet service, hard to find because there was no sign

“Good Hotel With One Exception”

This Quality Inn was just east of the 610 Loop on 1-10 in Houston. It's not the best neighborhood, but it's passable. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

The hotel itself was in good shape and the room was clean and up-to-date. The grounds and the pool are attractive.

The continental breakfast was more than the typical one including fresh fruit, waffles and biscuits with gravy.

The desk personnel were competent, helpful and quite pleasant. The maids did a good job cleaning the room.

The biggest downside was the internet. It definitely was not fast, often quite slow, connectivity was poor, and it timed out frequently. I had work to do there and the internet speed and connectivity was a major impediment. The staff are aware that connectivity is a problem. I'm not sure why the management doesn't address the problem.

If internet is not important to you, then this is a good place to stay. If you want fast and reliable internet access, stay somewhere else.

  • Liked — The quiet, clean rooms.
  • Disliked — The lousy internet connectivity and slow speed.

“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2006

Our stay at the Quality Inn Houston (10155 East IH-10) was above what I expected for the low price. Upon driving up to the hotel, it did look a little worn. It is not in the BEST part of town, but at no time did I feel threatened or uncomfortable. As a matter of fact, once I stepped into the lobby and met the courteous and efficient desk clerks, I felt well taken care of.

The hotel's exterior is older and worn. However, once I stepped into the central area of the hotel, I saw a lovely gazebo (perfect for sipping complimentary coffee in the morning) and a clean, if simple, pool area.

The rooms we stayed in were in the back of the hotel, so we had little to no noise from the highway. We found the rooms to be a little bigger than we expected for a budget hotel. The room accomodated two full-size beds, a comfy chair and ottoman, and a work desk with a swivel chair very comfortably. We also had a microwave and a mini-fridge. The shower was great because the shower curtain hung on a "oval" rod, making sure that I had more space in the shower without touching the shower curtain.

The complimentary breakfast bar was great! It included the usual cereal, yogurt, fruit, but also included waffles, biscuits and gravy, and oatmeal.

All in all, it was a great stay and a wonderful bargain!

  • Liked — spaciousness of the room, breakfast
  • Disliked — next to a club
