Weeks before checking into this hotel, it appeared that the owner/manager did not follow the "America's Best Value" policies as advertised on the website. I am a VALUE CLUB member. The website says I am entitled to an upgrade. When I called, he said he couldn't give me an upgrade because my price was too low. I also asked about the coupon that TripAdvisor had on their website. He said he didn't honor the coupon. I called the next day to speak with a different associate. She allowed me to set my reservation with this coupon :)
At check in, a very nice young man offered the handicapped room with no tub (?)
He pointed out that it was a good location because it was close to the front. I appreciated his thoughtfulness.
Once checked in, we realized the A/C wasn't functioning properly. It would not stay on. Since there was not another room. A man, who I assumed was the owner, came to look at it. He told me that it was working fine and had no more to say about it even though I questioned why it was warm in the room if it was working. Since the next night was cooler, we were able to use the heat.
At check out, I realized they had written in a higher amount on my credit card slip, which I had already signed. The young lady gave me an explanation for it -nonsense. Too much to say here. She said she would speak to her manager. I advised I would dispute the charge on my credit card if I wasn't charged what I signed and agreed to.
I didn't expect anything more than a clean, safe room to sleep in. I did get that.
Oh.They did not charge me the higher, written amount.
