My husband and I were looking for moderate accommodations; nothing fancy but no cockroaches. We settled on the Quality Inn along I-30. We arrived to be put in a smoking room which was not what we our indicated on our on-line reservation booking. The entire room of the floor was wet. Since we wouldn't be in the room the majority of our weekend, we opted to not make a fuss. Each time we arrived back to our room, our room key would not work and we had to go downstairs and get our room key re-swiped. My favorite moment was when I went downstairs to ask for more toilet paper and the front desk clerk states, "You're in luck! Walk down to the end of the hall in building one and go past the ice machine to Housekeeping. Knock on the door and hopefully someone will answer."
I never expected to have hotel staff come up to the room but this was ridiculous. What was the lucky part of that equation...that she didn't have to go and get it? There were multiple other issues but I wanted to point out the main ones and encourage future travelers to avoid making the same mistake we did.
