“Great for the value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

The location was great! Right on the water, next to the beach and a few blocks from downtown. Room set up was very usable with a kitchen and separate bedroom from the living room. The quality of the room I would rate as average. Although there has been some renovation, there might be some attention to detail that was missed. The only experience I would rate as negative was the customer service, do not expect too much from the front desk.

It is not brand new, but has character and is in a great location. I would return!

Room Tip: Ask to be on the ground level facing the lake.

“Great Location - Perfectly adequate for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

The entrance and reception area are clean and bight, front desk staff were friendly. We had a room overlooking the beach area and hotel swimming pool. You have two choices at this hotel: Rooms facing the lake, or facing the beach.

The units are very large. It feels like you're in a condo. Full-size fridge, stove & double sink! The rooms were clean, though a touch spartan. If it were me, I would not have gloss paint on the walls, but I guess it's that way for durability, as are many hotels wall finish. Nice large balcony. Just a small gripe; no TV in the bedroom, but a good TV in living room.

My wife likes two pillows - there was only one each. I called the front desk and I offered to collect two extra pillows myself as i figured it would be quicker & it was just a short walk away. No problem, they were there waiting and given with a smile.

The location of the hotel is perfect & just a short walk to the square, but best of all, there's a restaurant directly across the street with the delightful name of Willie & Dick's! It's nothing fancy and very reasonably priced. We had dinner and breakfast there which were both excellent and the staff were very friendly.

There had been a pretty major fire in one of the hotel sections on the lake side in July 2011. Unfortunately our section was immediately next to this & we could see the burnt-out hulk as we entered and left our room. However, we could see that contractors were giving estimates for demolition and/or reconstruction of this section, so it should not be too long before this is improved. One could always ask for a room away from this area anyway. The exterior generally could do with some touch-up - especially the black metal railings all over the complex, but the area around the main entrance is very pleasant and parking is abundant.

All-in-all, perfectly adequate for the money, and yes, I would stay there again and would recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake would be quieter than beach-facing room, as it's a fairly busy road, but s...

“Good for the budget & Pet Friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

My husband and I booked this hotel mainly because it was pet friendly. I'd read mixed reviews, but we liked it. It's not anything fancy, but it was clean and we had plenty of room for us and our 2 dogs. We even had a nice lake view from our balcony. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but we only stayed one night. It's in walking distance from the cute little town square. We also found out there are hiking trails near by, so we will be going back.

“Good location, reasonable price, great view”

The suite was spacious, had a private balcony with lake view, close to historic district, and plenty of parking. There was no computer for guests to use. There was no dishwasher in my unit just the open space where one evidently had been at one time. The coffee maker had dirt in it. The gate on the balcony didn't have a working latch or lock. No cable guide. The a/c/heater and refrigerator were all extremely loud when running.

“Filthy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

We love Grandbury and recently lost our aunt and place to stay when visiting. Took the family on a 2 day trip to celebrate my grandson's 1st birthday. Left him to play on the floor while I cooked dinner and to my disgust he was black - like tar! from the knees down and on his hands when I picked him up to feed him. We asked for a clean room and they asked us to leave. The smell of carpet fresh almost knocked me over when we arrived, but the carpet is a dark burgandy so I had no idea it was so filthy. Should have been a clue..............what a nightmare!!!!
