OVERVIEW: as with all of my reviews, I rate the property to similar area facilities not class of hotel in one area vs. same class in another area.
Located along the Interstate just north of downtown Georgetown, it is an approximate 5-minute drive to downtown or the College. The structure consists of a single brick 3-story building circa mid 1980’s. The décor theme of the property is period chain hotel, recently updated. Outside pool area with hot tub. Parking is outside, on the property. Nearby facilities; a Mexican restaurant, the usual fast food along the freeway and a Starbucks nearby. All rooms open directly into the parking lot. Interior hotel premises are smoke free and smoking rooms are available. Pets welcome. Full chain motel complimentary continental breakfast.
THE GOOD: The rooms as compared to the newer U.S. motels appear to be larger. Two room types; King or two full size beds. Property has been renovated and all of the areas visited were very clean and neat. Front desk was excellent in all respects. Check in time less then 30 seconds. Public areas of the hotel are clean and functional. Each room has window a/c. Rooms are well insulated. Never heard other occupants. Coke and ice machine on first floor. High speed Internet is available and free. 25” TV with single channel HBO; movies on demand and video games. Iron, hair dryer and coffee pot, closet, dresser small table with two chairs in each room. A/C was on and the room was very cool. Still has the old massage shower heads. Property is perpendicular to the freeway, which greatly reduced freeway noise.
IRRITANTS OR VERY MINOR ISSUES: If the property is full, parking could be a minor issue. You may not be able to park close to your room. Solid rubber pillows but at least they were bendable. Perhaps it was the room type but most properties of this type have a single easy chair. None observed.
THE BAD: And this may not be bad, depending on your viewpoint. Rooms open directly onto the parking lot.
THE UGLY: None noted
TIPS: None to provide
BOTTOM LINE: A standard roadside chain property. Older property that has been redone and in great shape. I have spent time in all of the Georgetown properties except one and this is the one I would, so far, put at the top of the list.
